Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 15, 2010 10:29 pm Just wondering if anyone has done this and if so, are you in a unit and have you asked strata about this?
I have been provided another option to 'wedge' the exhaust in the window as against to putting it directly into the windows pane. Also wondering what are people's experiences with delayed timers rather than connecting the exhaust directly to the light switch which also turns the exhaust on and off as the lights turn on and off? Re: Exhaust in the window pane? Delayed time for exhaust? 2Jun 16, 2010 10:31 pm Are you talking about hot water service or ducted heating exhaust? In all cases, there are some regulations - exhaust should be 1m from the window, AFAIK. Re: Exhaust in the window pane? Delayed timer for exhaust? 3Jun 16, 2010 11:49 pm My bathroom is 2.4 x2.4 but has no exhaust. I am thinking of putting in an exhaust. Since i have no acces to any other ducting, it obviously needs to go somewhere, hence the by wedging an exhaust in the window or putting the exhaust directly inside the window itself? Wondering if this is the type of thing you'd need to tell strata or do it on the sly. Re: Exhaust in the window pane? Delayed timer for exhaust? 4Aug 19, 2010 3:48 pm I`d do it on the sly. Strata make out you can`t do anything and technically you can`t. However what they don`t know wont hurt them,it`s not like they come out and inspect everyones unit routinely anyway. They only really want your strata money and levie money. It`s always just money with strata. Do what you like, they wont notice and care so long as they are getting paid. Toilet has light and fan connected to one switch with a timer. After you flick the switch they both turn off after a few mins. Bathroom has separate switches for fan and light but the fan is connected to a timer and stays on for about 10mins after you turn off the switch. We installed them because we'd leave the fans running and forget to go back and turn them off so they'd be on for hours every day for no reason so if you're not good at remembering to turn off the fans then the timers are a great idea.
