Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 12, 2010 4:18 pm We are in the process of renovating our main bathroom (first of three). We are having a nice big tub and a shower over it. This shower is not going to be used much, if at all - we will be having our main walk-in shower in our en suite for everyday use, and a walk-in shower for guests upstairs - but we want to put in a shower for re-sale value. The problem is, I think that having a shower screen will take away from the impact of the bath. Also, if we do get the screen, it will have to be a custom-made on ($$$$!) as there is a window we'll have to work around. So, am I nuts to be considering having a shower without a screen? Re: Shower over bath....but no screen: am I nuts? 2Jun 12, 2010 4:42 pm Do you have a plan or sketch you can post so we can get an idea of exactly how it might work? Re: Shower over bath....but no screen: am I nuts? 3Jun 12, 2010 4:52 pm Do you need to put the shower in at all then if you have an ensuite? Unless there is a shower curtain rail or a screen, it will be messy for the ppl wanting to buy it, maybe without those things it would put ppl off? I dunno, maybe that's just my opinion Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Shower over bath....but no screen: am I nuts? 4Jun 12, 2010 6:01 pm ^ITA. Prospective buyers will realise straight away that they'll need to put a screen up. A family bathroom doesn't need a shower seeing you already have 2. I'd leave it out. Re: Shower over bath....but no screen: am I nuts? 5Jun 12, 2010 6:16 pm We have a shower above our bath without a screen. It is only used when the oldies come over. We have a drain in the floor, so a shower screen is not essential. However, when the oldies are here, we put up a plastic shower screen on a plastic tube that rests on top of the tiles. Works great. And yes shower screens on baths are not nice Re: Shower over bath....but no screen: am I nuts? 6Jun 12, 2010 6:54 pm Quote: We have a drain in the floor, so a shower screen is not essential. I would of thought the main purpose of the screen was to keep people warm in the shower, rather than to protect the floor from splashes. My rational for putting a shower in is that the plumber is coming already and it is much easier to get a screen fitted in the future if we do end up using the shower, rather than regretting not having a shower Re: Shower over bath....but no screen: am I nuts? 8Jun 12, 2010 9:44 pm clairem free will We have a shower above our bath without a screen. I have attached a link below. We have a plastic tube with rings that the curtain attaches to. Our tiles go most of the way to the ceiling but not all the way and we have those thick feature tiles at the top. so we put the plastic tube on top http://www.vitafutura.com/curtains/deta ... ?fam=00241 Re: Shower over bath....but no screen: am I nuts? 10Jun 13, 2010 12:10 pm clairem Ahhh, so just a plastic shower curtain! I'm actually leaning more towards the idea of not having a shower at all now... Yes, but is in a cupboard most of the time as not used. Just get it out when guests stay You need to reference the manufactures installation guide, your supplier may have strengthened the base where it is not required to sit on a bed. 1 1805 2 4475 Your shower screen has failed in the way it is designed to fail with tempered glass. You could replace it with laminated safety glass but make sure it has AS standards logo on it 1 11161 |
