Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 07, 2010 5:39 pm Hi Everyone, I have just finished renovating my very small bathroom and have just encounted a major problem with my tiles...hopefully someone has had this problem before and can help me with a resolution..... The below image is a picture of a partially tiles bathroom. The tiles on the floor and the wall are the SAME TILE!!! I kid you not....the exact same batch, the exact same color but due to the light it looks awful!!! It looks like someone smeared faeces on the walls and the floor looks like mushroom! Neither one of the colors are a representation of the tile outside the bathroom. I am FREAKING OUT! I dont know what to do....get the tiler to stop and rip off the poo like tiles and try something different or should I persist with the poo like tiles and see how it comes out with different lighting. I work for a residential architecture firm and I showed them this morning what happened and no one here has ever heard of it happening before - hence my desperation for help!. Please if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. cheers! http://www.mypicx.com/06072010/My_Ugly_renovation/ Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 3Jun 07, 2010 10:12 pm Hi - here's a link of the tiles that we got.... http://www.imexinter.com/porcelain_park ... 8x8_5.html Basalto colour. Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 4Jun 07, 2010 10:19 pm That looks like two totally different tiles, I have the same tile on the floor and side of bath and up one wall and there is no difference at all. So you saw these tiles laid out on the floor next to each other? and they were the same? Bytheway, your link had some smutty banners plastered all over it it's ok, I don't shock easy, just wasn't expecting it Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 5Jun 07, 2010 10:24 pm Hi there, Yes I did - I took them out of the box myself and looked at them in different light and then when they were put on the wall and the floor - completely different. I just realised that the pic wasnt showing the floor... have a look at this - just amazing....they are seriulsy the same tile!! http://www.mypicx.com/06072010/bathroom/ Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 7Jun 07, 2010 10:31 pm Hi again, would you be able to show me a image of your bathroom with the tiles...Ive basically stopped mine now and I am probably going to rip off the plaster this weekend and start over again on the walls....and lose about 1k! Thats why I am freaking out thanks Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 9Jun 07, 2010 10:56 pm I don't get it. I see the pictures, and I can see there's a difference in the pictures... but... when you take those tiles out of the bathroom and look at them side by side, are they the same colour? Is it just the light in the bathroom changing it? Have you confirmed with the tile shop that the colours are right according to what is printed on the box? (is there a colour or product number on the box??) Very odd Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Handover 8 September 2010 Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 10Jun 07, 2010 10:58 pm Is that really park avenue basalto? I took some images with my camera tonight with the vanity propped up which I will download tomorrow to show you....much like your but on a smaller scale... the whole bathroom just looks stupid at this stage. I guess my remedy to fix it would be rip off the wall tiles / replaster (my poor fiance is going to kill me) and then look at a very light neutral tile to replace it? what are your thoughts? Ps - your bathroom looks amazing! Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 11Jun 07, 2010 11:02 pm Hi Oceanus2, You would not believe me if I told you but yup they are both the same tiles. The bathroom light has affected this so I went down to bunnings and purchased 3 different types of lighting and still the same result. The batch number on the box is the same. if I take them out of the box and put them in a different room they are the same but as soon as you place them differently in the bathroom - vavoom...different. We watched as the tiling was taking place in shock and just couldnt get over they difference. I got about 500 bucks worth of tiles left - I am going to attempt to bring them back and cross my fingers...but I dont like my chances. I also work for an architectural firm who are just in shock - they have never seen this in all their time! Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 12Jun 07, 2010 11:44 pm hmm. Well that is just plain weird, isn't it?! I'm not sure what you should/could do, but whatever it is you decide, good luck! Can't wait to see your finished product once you are happy with it Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Sorry I didn't mean I had the same tile as you I meant I have the same tile on the floor and the wall Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 14Jun 08, 2010 9:20 am I'm confused. the floor tiles don't even look to be the same SIZE as the wall tiles, let alone colour, so how can they be from the same batch? Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 15Jun 08, 2010 9:46 am Ummm not sure about the tiles..... but when I clicked on the link to your photo I was presented with hot young babes that wanted me, which was confusing because the 'babe' shown seemed to be more interested in licking the fanny of another! Ash. Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 16Jun 08, 2010 9:53 am I am only going by the pic on the forum, I didnt click on the link - is it the same pic? the bathroom one I mean? Amazing difference, very weird - slight difference from light and angle is normal but that is unbelievable. Walls look quite dark on my computer screen, if your bathroom is very small I think you would be better off with a much lighter colour - dark colours make small rooms seem smaller and darker. Yes Helyn it is the same pic, I transferred it over because I had several popup intruders on my computer after I opened it...and I didn't think your innocent eyes could stand the site of what Ash described Ash! Ash! where is he get off that link NOW! Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 19Jun 08, 2010 11:57 am donuts I'm confused. the floor tiles don't even look to be the same SIZE as the wall tiles, let alone colour, so how can they be from the same batch? Natfrench, I also wondered about this - when you said "exactly the same tile", I guess you meant they were supposed to be the same colour, but in different sizes (ie 600x300 on the walls and 300x300 on the floors, by the looks). Is this correct? I don't think I could live with that colour on the walls. We had a bathroom tiling mishap recently, and the wrong floor tile was installed... it was only picked up after they were laid. In our case, though, the floors and walls were different colours anyway; just the floor colour was wrong. See that long & skinny piece of partial wall tile standing up against the wall in your first pic? Are you able to please lay that flat on the floor and take another pic? I am just finding it so hard to comprehend that those wall and floor tiles are supposed to be the same shade. Finally - what sort of lighting will you be having in your bathroom once the reno is finished? Re: Bathroom Reno gone terribly bad - please help!!! 20Jun 08, 2010 12:30 pm They cannot be the same tiles? Can they? And glad I missed those pictures that Ash found....
