Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 04, 2010 10:00 pm Do you think this is the best layout for this ensuite? The builder is not putting the duct in between the shower and the toilet. We measured it out on the floor today and the shower and toilet have become way too big. So today we thought we might get rid of the wall where the hand basins are and push them to the back in between the shower and toilet. That has given the free standing bath a lot more room, or should we leave it. The bathroom plan looks symmetrical with the mirrored wall hiding the walk in shower and toilet, otherwise we will have to use a glass panel for the shower wall, then mirror and basins and then a blank wall, which uses the space better but may not look as neat. Any other suggestions? I am hopeless at visualizing. http://www.pict.com/view/3604557/0/uppe ... age0012.jp Re: Help with ensuite layout please. 2Jun 05, 2010 2:50 pm I would make the lenght of the walls the same. As the void is no longer going to be used push the toilet back. The window will need to be moved so you do not see it when you enter ensuite (black area next to original window). You could put your shower niche on that wall aswell. I would get rid of the door to the toilet so it will look symetrical when you enter aswell. It took me 1 hour trying to work out how to put the plan on the forum. The plan does not reflect the true measurements. If I leave the hand basins where they are, it would give me only around 400mm clearance between it and the bath. By pushing the vanity back the bath has a lot more room. We measured out the toilet and shower like you have shown and they are absolutely enormous. I probably have one more day to decide before the plumber is called to insert the pipes. Re: Help with ensuite layout please. 4Jun 05, 2010 9:15 pm I wish I was. It has taken me a while to work it out. I'm also not 100% sure on my layout either I have changed my mind a million times. My hubby is so over it. I just asked him to look at some more pics of tiles online, his response "I am happy with whatever you decide". Makes it harder for me You have heaps of room either side of the bath. Is the room 6 m long? How wide is the area for shower? If you decide to put basins between shower and toilet you can use glass for toilet wall aswell as shower so both sides look the same. Will try and find pick of what I am talking about. Re: Help with ensuite layout please. 6Jun 06, 2010 9:09 pm Why don't you leave the layout as is and push the freestanding bath up against the bedroom divider wall. You could then build a nice long niche into it and make it a bit of a feature. You will then have heaps of circling space between bath and basins. Follow Bubbles advice regarding the toilet and should work fine. Re: Help with ensuite layout please. 7Jun 07, 2010 6:31 am I have to agree with radiuz, put the bath closer to that wall and turn it into a feature and give you more actual usable space. Check that shower isn't too narrow as well. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. Colour selection completed! Soon to go to council. Re: Help with ensuite layout please. 8Jun 07, 2010 3:50 pm The window has to stay as is, it went in yesterday. ok I can push the bath closer to the wall and still have enough room to mop up behind it. Hubby has already cracked it now that I have mentioned the toilet wall to match the shower-GLASS. That will add on approx an extra $4000? Re: Help with ensuite layout please. 10Jun 15, 2010 3:19 pm I'm still having problems with decisions. At the moment the toilet frame wall is still up to the ceiling and totally enclosed. Hubby says the dunny will stink if left open. Yeah sure it will when he takes a dump but men are always so practical and never think of aesthetics. When I look through all the bathroom magazines, all the toilets are in the open space. The vanity has now been pushed in between the shower and the toilet and the plumbing is in now. I am having a problem regarding the floor and shower floor. I want them to meet and the builder says he won't cut away the shower floor. Aggghhhh help. Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6138 You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn.
