Frameless shower screen prices..

Hi all,

I've just enquired about a frameless screen 1.2m x 1.0m and got quoted $2200+GST.

Is this price over the top or is it fairly standard for a frameless shower screen? It does not include the base or anything like that... just the screen itself.

Sounds like waaay too much. My brother in law got his done for $1350 for roughly 1200 x 1500, 2 sides including door.

Shop around, there will be cheaper out there somewhere.

I would imagine it would depend on if it was a straight 'wall' of glass with a door in it, or if it was a corner shower - as this means they have to join the glass on a corner without metal and I assume this would be more expensive.
No idea about costings but it sounds a little too pricey to me...

Try showerscreens.com.au they are sold through Bunnings and offer a DIY alternative. Looks like they sell 'standard sized' and customs. No prices on the website...

At first it's hard to comprehend, but look around and check out comparable products and prices. You will find that you get what you pay for.

The frameless shower we want is $2400 from Stegbar. It's expensive, but worth if if you ask me. They're such nice quality. Not only this, but consider that there are different grades of glass and Stegbar uses only the best.

I wouldn't skimp on something like this, personally.

We got ours through Stegbar when we renovated too. Very happy. There are different thicknesses of glass though so make sure you are comparing apples with apples. The price you quotes is probably 10mm glass. Anything under $1500 would probably be semi-frameless or poor quality. Ring around but aorund $2k (installed) would probably be about right....

I got mine for $350 on ebay from a warehouse at Lane Cove, installed it myself. Made my bathroom look a million bucks! Perfect for a reno prior to sale.

This price looks about right to me. A frameless showerscreen is the best you can get and I would not like to scrimp on it. I got one installed by Jim's Glass and it was amazing. Mine was a front and side, approx 1000 x 800 and was about $2000. It was a little more than an another Quote I received but the fittings that Jim's used were the best, plus they provided a lifetime guarantee. From the date of measure to install was less than a week. I cannot reccomend them enough.
