Re: Bidets 22Oct 13, 2007 11:00 am I've always thought bidets are a bit - um - yuck?
I don't understand how it "cleans" (the thought of a high powered jet of water comes to mind) - and wouldn't it either spray or wet the rest of you? How does water not go down your legs? To me, if it were that bad that I needed to 'wash' afterward, then I'd be having a shower with some soap. I don't fully understand the concept of how they work - and really, I don't think it would make me change my opinion of them. Are they connected to the grey or sewage system? If it's only grey - like the shower, bath, basins, then I'd imagine you'd still have to wipe first which doesn't get rid of the good ol' paper anyway. Definitely no bidet for our house! Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Bidets 23Oct 13, 2007 11:26 pm Eek at enema wash! I'm laughing at the concept of grey water in a bidet - that would really upset Oz's bum. I have stayed in heaps of hotels with them but have always been too gutless to try one. You know that some Asian countries consider the way we go to the toilet (i.e. sitting down and toilet paper) to be dirty. We're all different! Fi has moved in!! Re: Bidets 24Oct 13, 2007 11:51 pm Has anyone seen Demolition Man?? You could try the three seashells - Sly Stallone says - “it was explained to me by the writer is you hold two seashells like chopsticks, pull gently and scrape what’s left with the third.” ![]() ![]() Ruth -Bought house in Melbourne inner burbs, knocked it down & now...we are owner builders! Sorry, I meant the "out" pipe not the "in" pipe - as sewage gets treated, grey water doesn't. I definitely wouldn't be using "recycled" water! Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Bidets 26Nov 11, 2007 12:48 pm Had a job to do last Friday, for an old couple in a retirement village. While I was there, I had to use their toilet, and hey guess what?!!!.....
Their toilet was fitted with a toilet top bidet! It was branded Hyundai, and was a toilet seat arrangement with a control unit at the back that had a hose connected to it. On the wall was a remote control unit. It had little sensors on it to indicate if it was occupied, and various functions like wash, massage and enema wash! ![]() A MUST for every toilet? ![]() Ash. Re: Bidets 27Nov 11, 2007 1:15 pm When I first went to Asia, many years ago, I was too chicken to use their way of doing it, that is using one's left hand and some water from a tank/bucket/etc. On the second visit I got a mild case of Bali belly, run to the loo on the rustbucket Lombok ferry and guess what, I had no paper, so I was forced to use the Asian way. It proved no drama, much better actually than paper. I even managed to talk my missus into trying it. We became soon converted to using water, feel now "unclean" after using just paper, and we're having that Asian style hose installed in our new house too.
