I have long been under the impression that a room with a toilet is not allowed to open into a kitchen area, but must have another "buffer zone" with a door to separate it. I visited a friends 10 year old townhouse in Neutral Bay and there is a toilet opening directly into the kitchen area.
I am renovating a 100 year old terrace in Sydney and would like to bring the toilet from the bottom of the garden to be adjacent to the kitchen. Space wise it would certainly help to not have a buffer zone. Can anybody clarify what is correct in this situation?
