Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 16, 2010 3:59 pm I'm thinking of using white laminate in our bathroom and ensuite for the vanity cupboards and benchtop. I'd like to hear from anyone that has used it. I'm wondering whether white laminate stains ie makeup etc and/or is hard to keep clean. I will be using Parbury laminate. Most likely Designer White I think the colour is called. Re: White laminate in a bathroom and ensuite 2Mar 17, 2010 4:02 pm We had a white laminate vanity in our bathroom and I found that it did show up everything (from blush, to eyeshadow dust, to dust from my husbands electric razor, if we had the window open in the bathroom there would be a layer of dust on the vanity!) - so it was a continual cleaning job in there! It didn't really stain, maybe just discoloured or went a bit dull as it got older (it was 20 years old when we ripped it out) but maybe I didn't use anything near it that would stain it. We replaced it with a unit that just had the large sink on top (there is no actual bench) and timber cupboard - but I am really unsure what to pick for the new place!!! However only for the cupboards as I was too scared to use it for the benchtop in case it was a continual cleaning job and it did stain easily. We used Laminex white - natural finish for the cupboards and Laminex limestone - flint finish for the benchtop. I can confirm that when looking through the windows at our bathroom the white laminex looks good... as for stains I won't know until after our handover scheduled for April 7th. Re: White laminate in a bathroom and ensuite 4Mar 20, 2010 11:45 pm We are using white laminex- snowdrift for our cupboards and limestone for our benchtops which is fairly light. I think white can stain as in when I dye my hair LOL it drips and can be hard to get out. But then darker colours can often pick up soap scum easier. It is hard to say. Each has pro's and cons. It comes down to personal preference I think or just a mad decision at pre-start lol Re: White laminate in a bathroom and ensuite 5Mar 21, 2010 12:20 am I had antique white cupboards and benchtops in my last house, I found them easy to keep clean, any stains, hair dye, makeup etc came of real easy with gumption. we were in that house fot 10 year and the cabinets still looked like new. I say go for it Re: White laminate in a bathroom and ensuite 6Mar 21, 2010 9:42 am I had a professional spray tan product with a loose cap tip over in our (rented) bathroom vanity cabinet and it was a couple of days before I noticed it....by which time it had run all over the white melamine interior and down the white gloss laminate kickboard. It came off, no problems - when I wiped it up, it had left a stain, but some Marbletrend bathroom cleaner took care of it. The grout in the floor tiles was a whole other thing. Re: White laminate in a bathroom and ensuite 7Mar 21, 2010 10:40 am We are just about to install Laminex Diamond Gloss 'White Valencia' in both the bathroom and laundry. I'm hoping the 'gloss' will make it easy to clean. Agree with Chedasha about the soap scum too. That's one of the reasons we are going for white...oh, and the toothpaste smears from those who refuse to put their toothbrush away and leave them on the bench..grrrrrrrrrrrrrr Re: White laminate in a bathroom and ensuite 10Apr 19, 2010 4:03 pm i have an alabaster (off white) laminex benchtop in our bathroom, agree with the others, no staining thus far. however just be aware of what your edges are going to look like; if you just have the standard square edging you can see the substrate (sp?) of the laminate on the corner edge wherever it turnes a corner and is especially noticable with light colours...i don't mind it, it's what we have, but some ppl don't like it. Re: White laminate in a bathroom and ensuite 11Apr 19, 2010 10:40 pm Hey Sharon...we are having tiles floor to ceiling, so no paint other than window trim - Dulux aquanamel vivid white gloss. The wall tiles are really glossy 250x 330 - Lorreto Grey , which is actually bluey grey and sort of marbled. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The floor tiles are matt stoney white..330x330....but really a little darker bluey grey than the wall tile...and a white border tile called bordeaux white to go higher up the wall (picture rail height) I almost picked polar white DG laminex but it looked too white against the white basin. Donuts, we are having the DG white valencia square edge with the acrylic edging so there won't be any join to see (hopefully) the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11829 Just about completed a renovation project and hit a small issue that we didn’t see We have laminate floors now where we had tiles before (turned out it was actually 2… 0 4919 Thanks for the suggestion.
