But I can't figure how "single or 'double" fits into this situation? I want to have concealed wiring ie no powerpoint. When I go to the retailer, they usually quote me double wiring attachment which is more expensive. I find this at the Hydrotherm website http://www.hydrotherm.com.au/hydrotherm ... tions.html Just want to know whether it is worth the extra cost to go double wiring? Re: single or double hardwire to heated towel rails? 5Mar 14, 2010 8:48 pm From the hydrotherm website: 18. Single or double hard wire attachment? The difference between the single and double hard wire attachment is purely cosmetic. Both options conceal the element chord back into the wall. The double attachment is purely for aesthetic purposes as it provides the towel rail with a more even and finished look. So basically, it's just to make the towel rail look symmetrical. I've gone for a Tranquility heated towel rail mainly since the wiring is totally concealed. I didn't like the look of the electric supply to the hydrotherm units. So it is a case of if you want the additional cost for a second element and second hard-wired connection to be installed by electrician verses the one element but slower drying time of a single hard-wired element towel rack. Re: single or double hardwire to heated towel rails? 8Mar 15, 2010 5:13 pm Casa2 The double hard wired is purely cosmetic. No extra element is involved. Huh? So why or in what way is the unit double hard wired? And why does the drawing (bottom page 5) show a connection point on the right leg as well as the left leg? Purely cosmetic; so it doesn't look lop sided. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: single or double hardwire to heated towel rails? 11Apr 12, 2010 11:38 am I wonder about the safety aspect of a hardwired heated towel rail. We are currently renovating an old house, when we install our new bathroom rail it will definitely be running from a standard gpo. I have had experience with a Scope swing out unit that spread its casing at the end plug exposing the internal element , and that was purely through careful use with no more than the weight of two large towels. I can imagine what may happen to one of those units if exposed to bored kids using it as a swing! I prefer electrical appliances to be easily isolated, the problem if you don't is you have to isolate everything on the cct if there is a problem, and then try to troubleshoot... which is a proper pain. Electrical just got back to me and said the most they can provide is a single power point on the Bedroom 1 side of that wall.
