Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 11, 2010 4:43 pm Got a drip in the shower, the tap not me. Old style fibreglass unit; a mix tap with an elliptical cover; a shower head; a tap with valve control?, (you pull the valve up for the water to flow thru the shower head). Remove cover to expose tap shaft approx 55mm in length. Remove brass locking nut. The tap shaft is covered with green ribbed plastic. The plastic is smooth at the base, so used a shifting spanner to gently turn it. Out popped a semi circle brass washer with a tooth? in the middle. (Later discovered one of its functions is a locking device for turning the tap). (Two big hardware outfits had no idea what the single tooth semi-circle brass washer was.) There appears to be another brass semi circle washer still in place. I tried gently tapping this out with a screwdriver. No joy. The plastic / shaft are turning but going nowhere. I am assuming new seals and washers for the tap will cure my drip, if I can access them. Your thoughts most welcome. Re: Tap drip on old fibreglass shower unit. 3Mar 19, 2010 5:47 am I have to agree that I need a picture to help me out. But listening to your description I have to say that the only way to change the washers is you probably have to cut out a small hole in your shower to access the washers. I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe. S o I… 0 36944 that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7400 7 5147 |
