Black theme for bathroom-any comments?

I saw a black themed bathroom and its elegant. Well, that's a hotel bathroom. I am just not sure if they'll be ok for the ensuite or powder room in my home. I am looking at tiling with black marbled effect ceramic tiles and the walls would be same as well, covering only 1/2 of the wall and top of vanity. I am planning to use a stick like border - i think they're ruby stone with glass on top. That will border the wall tiles. That's what the colour consultant suggested.
Any views? Can you suggest pros and cons of having a black themed bathroom?

Hi Hannah, I guess my only concern would be how easily marks like soap residue would show up. I reckon Ash would have some good advice though

Sure it woudl look good, but....

Black cars show up the dirt really well - So will a black Bathroom I'd assume.

I had a lovely dark green marble bathroom once (with a few white lines in it) and that was really a very nice bathrom to use and easy to clean and did not show up the dirt very much.

But black - very brave

and it's bad feng shui anyway

My mum tiled her bathroom floor with large black tiles and did the walls black and white. The floor always looks dirty. My bathrooms have small dark grey tiles but doesn't show marks as much. Personally I love the look of a black bathroom - very classy and serene.

Not really, Mrs. B. Wall tiles are large rectangular shape and only covers half of the wall and the wall of vanity and mirror.
The bathroom looks lovely but dark esp since the tiles really cover up all the bathroom space.
I guess its black is really for those who wants to dare

I think they look great, the room just has to be big enough to cope with the dark colours making it appeara bit smaller.

Who cares what everyone else likes though everyone else doesn't live in your house. Unless you plan to move out soon do what YOU like

Nice bathroom, the rest of the house is a bit pretensious - video/electrical gadgets in glass cases. :roll:

I have seen better in a few tile displays but not bad. I think there is great potential with black. As for karma, I eat carms for breakfast!!

Late grandfathers camera collection, and some signed guitars. Just something different that keeping them in cupboards. I think the display cabinets came from Ikea.

Fair enough, at least one piece looked like it cas a type of handycam. Vintage is different.
