Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 03, 2010 12:38 pm Hello, I am new here (second post) and have been so amazed reading all the posts at how knowledgeable and helpful everyone is. So, am hoping for some advice from you all. We are renovating - adding a back room, laundry, ensuite and decking. The ensuite tiling is where I am struggling with. We have seen many many display homes/friends homes etc but would still love some opinions. We have picked 300 x 900 wall and floor tiles with an accent tile that will be running through the shower. Alot of people seem to do the different wall and floor tiles and I am wondering if ours will look plain? Are you better off having a different wall and floor tile or is one tile throughout o.k? And are most people tiling in a stacked style or bricked? Is stacked going to go out of fashion?? Help please!!!!! Re: Tiling help 2Mar 03, 2010 2:53 pm I like the one tile throughout, with a bit of a feature. My ensuite has the same wall and floor tile, and I have a feature nib wall that contains a mosaic in a contrasting colour. I have 300x600 tiles (which I assume is what you are getting?) and I laid the wall tiles vertically - that is 300 across and 600 up. Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: Tiling help 3Mar 05, 2010 8:27 am Cameo what ever you do be very carefull when laying the 300x900 in a brick bond format. All tiles by nature are made to a tolerance...and all will tend to have a bow in then...very very slight. This possible bow will be uniform on all the tiles. This is never noticeable when we lay tiles side by side as an bow is hidden as the tile alongside it will tend to have it in the same place - generally the middle (if not then u have a problem). When you bick bond you have the low point of one tile (end) up agains the low point of the next tile(middle)....this way you double the error and can cause basket weaving. If your tiles are rectificated (square edge) this will be evident even more. Dont think you tile is faulty if it has a slight bend....as all tiles are made to a tolerance. The tile shop you bought them from should have pointed this out to you. If your ceiling is 2.4m your best laying the tiles horizontally...as you will get more full increments of tiles in the vertical plain. Laid vertical you will only get 2 and .6 of a tile showing. Symetry is very important when planning the lay. Cheers Charlie Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7524 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones.
