Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 20, 2007 4:28 pm We are looking to use one of the above options in the bathroom when building our new house.
We are in an area that has very cold nights in winter (lots of frosts). Have got friends that have the under floor heating in their slab, but this is too late for us. Beaumont tiles were advertising heating that could be placed under the tiles, but I've also read good things about the heated towel rails - that they take the chill out of the air & obviously dry the towels out which also helps with less mould - which I like the sound of Towel rails were around $800 & we would want one in main bathroom & ensuite, so they're not cheap. Not sure of pricing for under floor heating & how cost effective they are to run. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Re: Heated towel rails v Under tile heating 2Aug 20, 2007 7:38 pm I've had heated towel rails and a dry towel on a cold morning is very nice As is the way they take the chill off the room.
As for under tile heating - don't know - but I would not expect the towels to dry out as much. They work like a cheap radiator - good when you close to them (ie directly underneath), but no effect otherwise. They also worry me as they are so hot and harsh... Electrical just got back to me and said the most they can provide is a single power point on the Bedroom 1 side of that wall.
