Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 24, 2010 3:25 pm Hi there - we are in the initial stages of planning a bathroom and laundry reno and as part of setting our budget (you would think that would be the first step but we don't tend to do things logically in our house) I have been looking at bath's as this is likely to be the one area we don't compromise on as we have been bathing in a bath about the size of a teacup for nearly 6 years and I am getting cramp! We have been considering whether to go acrylic or pressed steel when I came across an Australian retailer that does new cast iron baths - didn't even know they still made them - and despite the cost of purchasing one, I think it is what I really want (still trying to convince the financial manager - husband- that it is worth it). Just wonder whether anyone else has a cast iron bath (apart from the old ones that are in every house built prior to about 1950, including mine) as I am trying to work out if this is a good buy. The main problem being that they don't have a showroom in Adelaide so I can't actually see the bath up close and personal - and yes I know that is the first rule of buying a bath!! I have checked out the manufacturer which is Recor, made in Portugal and on the Recor website they look really lovely. The Australian supplier is having a sale this month - of course I only discovered this at the beginnng of the week! They usually retail the built in modefor about $1900 but currently currently selling for $1350. Any thoughts would be helpful... The gap can be adjusted so it's tighter. No surprises there. The pipes have obviously been altered and there would be a reason for this.… 3 31235 |
