Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 08, 2010 1:44 pm Hi all, Hoping someone can help. Weve installed a basin up against the mirror, but the back of the basin isnt finished and its showing up in the reflection...its not very pretty, as its almost yellow. I have no idea how to fix this. Can we paint the back of the basin in some kind of white glossy paint? Re: Back of basin showing up in reflection from mirror 3Feb 08, 2010 6:38 pm Yes it is, but it is up hard against the mirror...didnt consider the 8mm or so that would show up in the reflection... can anyone suggest what to do? Re: Back of basin showing up in reflection from mirror 4Feb 08, 2010 8:09 pm I'm trying to picture it, and I don't know but I'm wondering if it is meant to be inset into whatever is on the wall, if you know what I mean? Not just butting up against the wall but surrounded by the wall surfacing (typically tiles or in your case the mirror). It doesn't sound right that there should be enough of a gap to show up in the mirror. Maybe you could check with the manufacturer? Re: Back of basin showing up in reflection from mirror 5Feb 10, 2010 10:51 am Theres no gap at all between the back of the basin and the mirror, but there is still a small part of the back of the basin reflecting from the mirror, just at the very top. Apparently we can just caulk around it with white silicon (or whatever they use) and that should fix it. Hopefully no one else makes this mistake! oops Re: Back of basin showing up in reflection from mirror 6Feb 10, 2010 12:51 pm chocolatenow? Theres no gap at all between the back of the basin and the mirror, but there is still a small part of the back of the basin reflecting from the mirror, just at the very top. That's what I was picturing, not a complete gap at the back but just enough variation in the shape that even when it is up against the wall it doesn't look... I don't know, streamlined? Which is why I was wondering about the installation. I'm not a fan of the patch it up and it'll look better technique but who knows, maybe a line of silicone was in fact what was meant to be done and they forgot to do it? I don't know, hard to say without pics. I guess I'm concerned because we've had some issues with our basins, not relevant to yours, but it's made me fussy about them because of both aesthetics and practicality (eg cleaning).
