Theres no gap at all between the back of the basin and the mirror, but there is still a small part of the back of the basin reflecting from the mirror, just at the very top. That's what I was picturing, not a complete gap at the back but just enough variation in the shape that even when it is up against the wall it doesn't look... I don't know, streamlined? I'm not a fan of the patch it up and it'll look better technique but who knows, maybe a line of silicone was in fact what was meant to be done and they forgot to do it?
