You've made quite a few posts about not being sure you can afford things. Take the safer option, have none, and be sure you can pay your mortgage. Plenty of people have bathrooms with no feature tiles. Just choose some nice blue towels or soaps etc to jazz the room up a bit.
No point in blowing the budget and then losing the house just for the sake of some costly extras. Re: ensuite feature tile help 23Feb 08, 2010 6:52 pm My honest opinion, after taking another look at your plan, is that when you have Fudge Stream happenin' you don't need much else in a room. Stop stressing and save your $$. Also, have you put the Fudge Stream sample near those feature tiles because they will be next to each other, well on the same facing wall. Re: ensuite feature tile help 24Feb 08, 2010 7:42 pm I don't actually want to comment on your tiles, but your vanity. I would strongly recommend changing your drawers to the other side otherwise your door handle will bang on the wall and possibly mark/damage it. Thanks for pointing that out - I'll be sure to stop posting about my financial status, I didn't realise I was doing it...but now I am. suh My honest opinion, after taking another look at your plan, is that when you have Fudge Stream happenin' you don't need much else in a room. The fudge is on the vanity cupboards which is on the same wall that the feature strip would be on Possumchops I don't actually want to comment on your tiles, but your vanity. Thanks for pointing that out, but I'm past the point of being able to change it. Re: ensuite feature tile help 26Feb 12, 2010 3:49 pm Here we go again. Two people in two days. My record is getting bad. You dont need to stop posting at all. It was just a comment based on past information you have supplied including your post a couple of minutes ago stating you dont have rent money after a certain date. If you dont have the extra money....then feature tiles is something you can easily go without. Some of the best bathrooms have no feature tiles. We all have to draw the line and cut costs somewhere! Ari, you haven't offended me I was just saying - I shouldn't be posting stuff about my finance and I'm going to stop. I didn't realise I was doing it. But now that it has been pointed out to me, I'm going to be more aware not to say it. I wasn't saying I was going to stop posting altogether, just the finance stuff. And yes, I just realised I did it again and I'm going to go back and delete that bit lol I just fell in love with that tile and really really wanted to use. But I am leaning towards not having it, but only because of what SuH has said. The more I think about the feature tile and the fudgestream in one room might be a bit overpowering I'll use it somewhere...at some point, when or where I have no idea but I will use that tile someday lol Re: ensuite feature tile help 29Feb 12, 2010 6:54 pm Ari Buy one strip of it and make some artwork with it. I'll work it in there somewhere Re: ensuite feature tile help 30Feb 12, 2010 9:29 pm suh is right - Fudgestream is a feature on its own. I think your white wall tiles will offset it nicely. And as Ari said, you can always add any colour you fancy with towels and accessories. Building is one big stressful experience. Hang in there, it'll be worth it. Thanks Kek I hope its going to look gorgeous. Yep, I have a lot more grey hair now than I did when I started all this!!! I really can't wait for it to be all over! Re: ensuite feature tile help 32Feb 13, 2010 8:36 am I also agree that fudgestream would be enough on its own, but maybe if you really love the tile - you could put it in the ensuite with perhaps burnished wood laminex instead? That way you are cutting costs by only doing one room but still getting the feature tile you love. (Also would you get a rebate for that part not being fudgestream, I heard some builders charge extra for it?). Re: ensuite feature tile help 33Feb 13, 2010 8:54 am Ms Builder I also agree that fudgestream would be enough on its own, but maybe if you really love the tile - you could put it in the ensuite with perhaps burnished wood laminex instead? That way you are cutting costs by only doing one room but still getting the feature tile you love. (Also would you get a rebate for that part not being fudgestream, I heard some builders charge extra for it?). Hi Ms Builder, No my builder didn't charge me extra for the fudgestream...but they were going to charge me a LOT to have it run horozontal, so I'm just having it run vertical. It would cost me $500 to change my laminate at this stage and I love the fudgestream so I don't want to get rid of that. I originally was going to have the fudge on the counter back in my kitchen but the builder was going to charge me $1000 for it. So I moved the fudge to the ensuite because I loved it so much. My glass splashback in the kitchen is going to be a light blue, so I'm going to get some of the tile sheets and I'm going to make some tiled placemats. It will go nicely in the kitchen Re: ensuite feature tile help 34Feb 13, 2010 8:57 am Just spotted this thread ... Can you change from fudgestream to eg. white? <--- OK, your post just came through, can't do this. I agree with kek, suh and Ari ... we all have to prioritise and find out what is really important. But if you think you can still afford to squeeze in the feature tile somewhere, I would definitely not put it in the whole of the neiche (because it would just remind me too much of the 'dark places' from the other thread ). Maybe run a 5-piece wide strip from top to bottom of the shower, possibly through the neiche (but maybe not through the centre of the shower). Or, why not have the tile on the corner wall (leave neiche white). Then you wouldn't have that much of competition between the fudgestream and the feature tile ... and you'll still be able to look at it In the end, it's not that important. The cost of having the tile won't be that high either (you'd need about 3 sheets - about $100 plus some extra laying cost - assuming no variation charges). There were so many fetaure tiles I loved but had to leave them as you literally can't put everything you like in (no room !! ) ... My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: ensuite feature tile help 36Feb 13, 2010 12:18 pm Yeah thats how much the variations are. I did my colours app. months ago now. My tiles I can change because I haven't done that officially yet. Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6138 the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11835 |
