Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 30, 2010 11:07 pm Just wanting to know if anyone has had one, if so happy with it or am I insane for even considering it?? ____________________________ Bec ____________________________ Building our Balinese Resort Inspired Dream Home Blog ~ http://hagarshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Timber Shower floors 2Jan 30, 2010 11:10 pm Is there such a product out there? I honestly don't understand why you would want one.. the upkeep of it would be crazy. It would be heaps slippery too, if it wasn't then it'd prob rot. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Timber Shower floors 3Jan 31, 2010 12:02 am Philmac have a ready made unit to install (see below) it sits flush with the floor and has a stainless steel tray that the timber slats sit in, but it comes at max size of 900mm x 1800mm and I need 2000mm x 1500mm, I'm still waiting to hear back from them if they make custom ones. Re: Timber Shower floors 9Feb 03, 2010 9:48 am We have been importing them for 13yrs now... Numerous clients use them in bathrooms but as they are a long plank tile 15x45 or 15x90 a slot drain must be used. http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/kalafrana/119.jpg Cheers Charlie Re: Timber Shower floors 10Feb 08, 2010 7:34 pm Saw the timber look ceraminc tiles today - 3 colour ways - looked great! Life's too short too drink bad wine Re: Timber Shower floors 11Feb 08, 2010 8:41 pm I think those tiles look good but I'm not convinced they would convey the same warmth of real timber. Also I actually really like the 'slat' aspect of the timber ones ____________________________ Bec ____________________________ Building our Balinese Resort Inspired Dream Home Blog ~ http://hagarshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Timber Shower floors 13Feb 27, 2010 10:13 am BecH Philmac have a ready made unit to install (see below) it sits flush with the floor and has a stainless steel tray that the timber slats sit in, but it comes at max size of 900mm x 1800mm and I need 2000mm x 1500mm, I'm still waiting to hear back from them if they make custom ones. Their website is http://www.modwood.com.au/ I fear however that these products won't really be suited to continous soaking (plus soap etc). Good luck e. Re: Timber Shower floors 17Mar 25, 2010 8:40 pm There is a special timber type been used on Boats for ages. Bathroom flors, decking general floring. Those are subject to sun and seawater without any problems. I think they use Teak Re: Timber Shower floors 18Mar 25, 2010 9:46 pm Quickstep make a special bathroom range of wood laminates: http://www.quick-step.com/australia/au/ ... agune.aspx Re: Timber Shower floors 19Mar 25, 2010 9:55 pm Vundaful! He is using Teak as his shower base and has a sucken concrete recess under the timber so that you don't see the drain. The timber slats sit on a frame so that he can easily remove the timber section to gain access to drain etc. The shower is in the centre of one of his walls so that the plumbing is off the solid wall and two frameless pieces of glass are either side extending off the wall about 1m. The timber base extends off the wall about 1.5m so it also acts as a bath mat. I will try and post a picture when he is finished (next few weeks). Mel - jumping in feet first to my first owner build!! Land settled 12/08/09 Design finalised 21/01/10 OB permit 26/03/10 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15886 2 4669 3 5580 |
