Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 29, 2010 9:50 am Hi all, I know most of you are getting the house build but still hoping there will be someone out there reno their bathrooms just like me. I like to know a best place to get things like bath tube, vanity, toilet suit, tap ware, and tiles. I'm looking at something a good brand and can last a long time but also resonable priced (on a budget). And also if you could recommand a few brand that be great Ooops and I'm in sydney ! Re: Where do you get your bathroom wears? 3Feb 02, 2010 10:59 pm I bought my main, shall we say "feature" items in my bathroom from Reece as well. So basically my vanity, tap ware and a mirrored cabinet. With my toilet, shower, heated towel rail, kitchen tap and toilet roll holder. I literally went to a different shop to get each item (except for the towel rail which was from eBay). My bathroom was a reno job, so I had limited choices with my toilet due to the existing plumbing set out. I think the cheapest I could get from Reece which would fit was about $600 - so I shopped around to save a couple of hundred. It was the same scenario with my other items - I just kept an eye out in the paper for advertised specials and picked up a few bargains along the way. Whether you can do this depends on how much time you have on your hands! I was literally running out during my lunch breaks every day to go pick up various bathroom items I've just started writing a blog Re: Where do you get your bathroom wears? 4Feb 03, 2010 6:01 am Hi,
I am a builder in Sydney and can give you a few ideas. Where in Sydney are you located? We usually sell tiles to our clients and have a display in our office. We can save you a fair bit on tiles as we sell them at near wholesale prices. Reece is also good for bathroomware as we use the one in Surry Hills. Very upmarket. Also ACS, there is one in Chatswood and one in Bondi Junction. If you want cheaper try Ostar in Milperra. They are wholesalers that sell to the public.Very cheap but they do not have all the glitz as a Reece showroom. Hope this can help. Thanks
Re: Where do you get your bathroom wears? 5Feb 07, 2010 11:10 am Im a plumber and I always use Reece. They stand behind their products and give their own one year warranty, so that if the product fails, they send their own plumbers out to replace or repair it. You wont find small discount places doing that. In regards to their pricing, its kind of like doing business in the middle east. They have a pricing tier system. They have more than one price per article. If you buy a house lot from them, you get a far better price than if you buy just one article at a time from them. And two different branches may give you two different prices. Re: Where do you get your bathroom wears? 6Feb 07, 2010 5:47 pm vanity & top & mirror from Swan plumbing, 1/4 ceramic taps & glass shelves for shower from a discount bathroom / kitchen place, wall tiles from Tilemart (I think) shower base & screen, towel rails & toilet from Bunnings Re: Where do you get your bathroom wears? 7Feb 09, 2010 2:59 pm Quote: And two different branches may give you two different prices. mmmmmmmmmm this sounds very interesting. never thought of that. I went into Harvey Norman the other day, they do have some sort of clearance on feature wares. But it's still quite upmarked price. I was thinking if I could find the same product in two diff places to get a better deal. It's very hard to decide which kind or brand to get as they all look pretty good to me. any tips on picking some nice feature wares? Re: Where do you get your bathroom wears? 8Feb 09, 2010 4:55 pm Quote: any tips on picking some nice feature wares? I deal mostly with Reece, but I maintain accounts with two other suppliers, so as to compare the prices I get from Reece. It keeps them honest, so to speak. I also have another friend who has an account at another Reece branch. We often compare prices and if they vary widely, we want to know why. Buying a house lot from one supplier will usually get you a cheaper price, rather than buying from individual suppliers. Try to strike up a friendship with the guy youre dealing with. The guy serving you can sell you stuff at retail or at one of the trade prices. And if you walk into a different branch, you might strike someone who's having a better day and he'll sell you stuff at a trade price, whereas the other branch, would only sell to you a retail. Most suppliers have a tiered priceing system. Obviously theres retail, but trade varies too. Someone buying hundreds of a particular fitting will get it cheaper than someone buying only a few. I install hundreds of hot water units a year, so I get a really cheap price on those. But one reason I deal with Reece is, if I install something...a cistern for example, and theres a fault within it, Reece send their own people or arrange for the manufacturer to repair it, whereas, some other suppliers will insist on me returning the faulty unit and exchanging it and that costs me money. Try installing a faulty flickmixer from Bunnings and asking them to repair or replace it on site. You wont get very far. 2 10984 Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
