As in you need to reduce the size of the room? Would love to see some more pics preferably during construction stage if possible Also, is this a must if having a cabinet above the vanity? As in if the vanity is too low and is obviously sticking out you might hit your head when washing your face for example. Correct? Re: Extending the wall in order to gain a shelf above the vanity 2Jan 23, 2010 5:24 pm It would be the same principle as the feature niches we have - the wall frame is simply thicker than usual, allowing for a cut-out area. I think it's a great idea where you have the type of basins that are wall-mounted (i.e. no vanity). If you already have a vanity with adequate bench space it seems unneccesary, although it does look nice -and you'd have extra storage/display space. The second pic looks as though it's been done purely to mount lighting in there - there's already a bench top, plus that appears to be a row of shaving cabinets with mirrored doors, so there's plenty of storage space. The lighting wouldn't be useful for putting on makeup etc, either, it's too low. Decorative feature only, I guess. Ahhh. I also want nices in all our showers but thought that there is no insulation in that part of the wall. Didn't realise that the whole wall needed to be thickened... Thanks for that!
