Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 22, 2010 1:33 pm Hi Everyone, I am a first home owner who has just purchased an apartment, seeing though i spent 26 years of my life at home not caring what colour things where, all of a sudden the thought of keeping the bathroom the way it is at my own place : - pink tiles with flowers and green tiles on the floor is rather scary. So with the help of a couple of friends i am going to renovate the bathroom, I want to keep the costs down as much as possible. Below is the colour scheme i am thinking about please let me know what you think. Bathroom Size : 3m x 1.8m Wall Tiles - White Feature Tiles - Grey (too match the floor tiles) Floor Tiles - Grey ( dark, non slip ?) Shower Screen - going with a glass shower Mirror - undecided help appreciated Vanity Top - White Vanity Doors & Structure - White rectangular with matching door, there are no handles. It has the grooves to open the drawers etc. Hardware / Tapes - Stainless Steel I am thinking about going with square shaped fittings to match the vanity set out. Handles - Stainless Steel i prefer the hot and cold turning handles. I want to keep things rather simple i purchased all the bathroom gear direct from a warehouse for $1700 - glass shower - vanity - new toilet ( fixed to wall to hide plumbing) - handles, taps, towel rack and all the fittings - Shower head I am yet to buy the tiles because again i was waiting on the opinion of a majority i suppose. I also have plans to remove the bathtub to open up the bathroom space In my head i have an image of dark or light grey tiles, white walls not sure about the mirror, a grey tile feature on the walls. Replacing the bathtub: i thought of a "cubes" design cupboard filling the different squares with a mixture of light grey dark grey and white towels along with other colour coded decorations. I apoligies if this was too long, again i have no idea and i am a first timer i would really appreciate your thoughts and ideas. George Re: Bathroom Colour Scheme Help 2Jan 22, 2010 2:24 pm To be honest George, I don't think you need our help at all, your ideas sound perfect Love dark grey and white together and the cubed cupboard idea will look really nice. No handles is good, love square taps too, I would do a plain mirror about the vanity with no frame, just my opinion love it all Re: Bathroom Colour Scheme Help 3Jan 22, 2010 3:31 pm Don't use a floor tile thats too textured. Yes will give you plenty of grip but a nightmare to keep clean. Go for glazed wall and floor tiles (thats doesn't just mean shinny) over full body vitrified tiles - as once again much less maintenance. I think you mentioned you purchased a pre made shower screen. If so just be carefull as no wall and floors are ever perfectly square. Thsi may cause you a problem as the pre made screens are cut to perfect 90deg. When a glazier measures for a screen onc ethe tiles are laid, he measure and makes up for any out of squareness.
