Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 19, 2010 3:55 pm Hi we are currently renovation our home and I have now decided to put a bath in the ensuite as the main bathroom (2.3 X2.5 ) is to small for a bath, shower , toilet & basin (twin). What do you think. On the plan the wall that comes out a bit were the basins are is a fireplace that will be plastered over. It currently doesn't have the mantle and marble. The shower has no glass or door. It will be a walk in shower approx 1.4x1.6. Bath will be built in or freestanding, still not sure.
Still trying to work out how to add pic . One pic is of original plans. One of measurements of room and one of the layout. This room was a bedroom which will be made into the ensuite and robe. Toilet will be put on wall next to basins. Thanks -1.jpg Re: layout of ensuite & robe, what do you think? 4Jan 19, 2010 9:08 pm Do I understand this right? You want to replace the bath in the bathroom with a double basin. And you want to put a bath in the ensuite and make the whole bath plus wir into one combined room. IMO double basins are a little over-rated. Nice to have where there's lots of room but where there isn't I think they'd be a nuisance. Wardrobes in ensuites make me shudder, all that humidity can't be good for them. So to me there are some questionable compromises with minor benefits. Re: layout of ensuite & robe, what do you think? 5Jan 19, 2010 9:37 pm Macy - I have one room that will be made into ensuite and robe. In the ensuite I want the bath, shower, toilet and basins. The layout is on the 3rd pic. The middle pic are the original plans drawn up of ensuite and robe. However we now want a bath in the ensuite. I thought about moisture humidity in the robe also but at the same time I do not want 2 separate rooms. I may need to put in an extra fan in the robe. Re: layout of ensuite & robe, what do you think? 6Jan 19, 2010 10:19 pm Yes, that's how I read it, the second pic is the proposed plan and the third is what you want to change it to. So the main objective is to have a bath in the ensuite, not just to find space for a bath because it won't fit in the bathroom if you have a double basin? Re: layout of ensuite & robe, what do you think? 7Jan 20, 2010 10:07 am Yes the bath to be moved to ensuite as the kids bathroom is not big enough. I want to put in twin basins in the kids bathroom with a toilet and shower only(i have 3 boys). Re: layout of ensuite & robe, what do you think? 8Jan 20, 2010 1:18 pm I'm sorry, what I was seeking to clarify is whether the main objective is to have a bath in the ensuite? Now you are back to saying the reason is because it won't fit in the bathroom? If you really want a bath in the ensuite and don't mind chancing it with the wardrobe then that is your decision. IMO the bigger problem with a shared bathroom is not the lack of a double basin but the fact that it is a combination bathroom/wc. But as you appear to be having two ensuites (and a downstairs wc?) I guess it'll all work out alright. My big concern is the humidity in the wardrobe. Maybe someone else has an opinion about that or suggestions on how to alleviate that but I personally wouldn't do it. Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6144 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6636 the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11838 |
