Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 30, 2007 3:16 pm Hi all,
Our builder is providing with laundry upgrade which includes 400 cm wide broom cupboard. Is that enough to hold the mop, buckets, vacc. cleaner, brooms etc? I have my doubts. I feel at least 600 wide is required. The present house is old and doesnt have a broom cupboard so I do not have a guideline. Please advise. Re: Broom cupboard width 2Jul 30, 2007 3:24 pm I would think it would be enough for broom mop etc but might struggle with vac cleaner Re: Broom cupboard width 3Jul 30, 2007 3:28 pm And how deep is the broom cupboard? 450 or so deep as well?
Then 400 wide should be heaps. (it's half a normal door width)? but depends on how big the vaccy is - go for a buolt in and you do not need as much cupboard space then? re brooms - depending on which model you have (talk to Harry he has some good models ..... either way - I'd hang them up off the floor, the buckets etc go below and the sports model - gets pride fo place at the front - for those who know how to fly it Re: Broom cupboard width 4Jul 30, 2007 9:20 pm Yak_Chat Then 400 wide should be heaps. I am not so sure. vpande said brooms, mop, bucket and vacume cleaner. It really depends on the vacume cleaner. But in my experence 400mm is a bit tight. I would want around 500mm Re: Broom cupboard width 5Jul 30, 2007 9:55 pm I think 400mm would be too narrow. Our broom cupboard in our last house was about 600mm and even then I found my self cramming the vacuum cleaner in and then slamming the door quickly to avoid an avalanche! I'd go for 600mm if I was you. Re: Broom cupboard width 6Jul 31, 2007 7:26 am But as said before it really depends on the type and size of vacume cleaner. My vacume cleaner would fit into a 500mm cabinet without a drama, but some others wouldnt Re: Broom cupboard width 7Jul 31, 2007 7:48 am i assume that would be mm not cm & the depth is 400 ?
If that's the case - 500 would be average, 400 would possibly suffice assuming there will be around 50 odd mm extra to the back of the door [hinged] Peter Clarkson - AusDesign Australia www.ausdesign.com.au This information is intended to provide general information only.
