Does anyone have one of these? Your thoughts? In terms of aesthetics this range is miles better than the regular IXL Tastic.

ME! ME! ..... I have them in each bathroom. They look great but don't have great suction because I have mine right in the middle of the room, you need to have them very close to the shower. Also the lights aren't bright enough and we had to add a couple of extra downlights over the mirror. But they look great Oh, and I don't reckon the heat is strong enough not when it's freezing in the middle of winter, nup! HEY BUT THEY LOOK GREAT Re: IXL Tastic Neo 3Jan 03, 2010 12:10 pm WOW they are pretty. We just have the ordinary eco ones. (4 light) Very warm/hot. ( nice and bright though but not so pretty)and one of ours is quite noisy. ( ensuite) and the other one is still a bit noisy as well. I love them anyway but these look really attractive. HEY BUT THEY LOOK GREAT So what you're telling me is that they look great but functionally don't live up to your expectations? yep Re: IXL Tastic Neo 7Jan 06, 2010 8:38 am We've had the old style ones for years and I don't think that they're much chop either. My biggest regret with this house is not upgrading the heating unit to a bigger one so we could have ducts in the bathrooms. The heat lamps will toast the top of your head (ouch!), especially if you have standard 8' ceilings, but won't do much to warm the room. If the output from the fancy new ones is about the same, then they'd be a waste of money. I stand right under ours and still freeze my @rse off in winter. I'm planning to rip ours out and put in a panel heater and some extra lighting. One day. Re: IXL Tastic Neo 8Jan 19, 2010 5:46 pm Don't waste your $$$. I have one in each bathroom. I actually installed a second fan in both bathrooms because the suction is zilch! I actually made the electrician come back because I thought he had installed them incorrectly...it was so impossible to believe that this was how they were supposed to be. Not to mention that you need the heat lamps on to see anything because the lighting in these things do pretty much nothing. And I have small bathrooms. They are hopeless! Re: IXL Tastic Neo 9Jan 19, 2010 5:54 pm I have the old ones - since about 2001, and I'll go against the grain and say I am one of the lucky ones as they do work - although we did install an extra light above the mirror and the light is pretty crap - but find the heat lamps work ok, and I love a warm bathroom... My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. Thankfully there are always Tim Tams Re: IXL Tastic Neo 10Jan 23, 2010 2:31 pm Thanks becdoll. I've had the old ones and they were......ok but I think I'll give these new 'trendy' ones a miss. Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: IXL Tastic Neo 11Jan 23, 2010 10:29 pm I can't comment on this particular model but if anyone has exhaust fans vented externally and feels the suction is inadequate check whether the builder bothered to install the correct diameter ducting. That's not to say the units don't have rather underwhelming efficiency anyway, I don't know, but too narrow ducting can make things worse. |
