Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Caroma Vanity Basins - what is their quality like? 2Mar 16, 2010 1:44 pm Hi Hiccup, It really depends who your builder is and what state you are. My builder said i could choose anything on the tradelink website. Im in WA. They were giving me caroma verona as standard (these are plastic and RRP at $50) I then was going to upgrade to a Caroma Leda but it came back as ~$800 each inc the tap. Caroma is one of the good brands as far as im concerned, its up there with Reece if you want to pay the money to get a good basin Ended up going for a Raymore Pearl basin (not sure on the quaility, it is China tho) which is basically the same shape. for ~$640 for 2 and the the mixer taps. In the end i came down to cost for me and if anything does go wrong, its got a warrenty. Hope this helps Garden - viewtopic.php?f=19&t=44214&p=670323#p670323 Decorating - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=47218&p=715743#p715743 Re: Caroma Vanity Basins - what is their quality like? 3Mar 16, 2010 8:35 pm Usually, the really cheap china has a few more whoops and dimples in it, and have larger tolerances on errors and issues, than your really good china, and some aren't glazed in places you would expect. But china is china, unless you are after a really special shape and style for an impact piece its not something you really need to go over board on cost with. Try to get to see the product before you buy to make sure its what you expect, but otherwise most people are happy with the cheaper styles. The raymor pearl is a nice basin and comes with pop up plug & waste, which the caroma ones don't come with, even with the extra cost you pay for them. Re: Caroma Vanity Basins - what is their quality like? 4Mar 19, 2010 5:55 pm CAroma is used in hospitals so I think that means that their quality is decent. We once bought a vanity with basin etc together which cost us round 600. Never ever again! I think it is not the basin itself but the tap ware and the vanity, complete crap, the handles rusted after one year. And the tap was flimsy. Re: Caroma Vanity Basins - what is their quality like? 5May 25, 2010 11:48 am I am building a med-high standard house and told the builder I want the Caravelle 600 under counterbasin, I need five of them. Large, deep, practical and reasonably priced. $248.
I just bought them at *** auction Sept'10 for $20. each Re: Caroma Vanity Basins - what is their quality like? 6May 25, 2010 2:05 pm McKinnon I am building a med-high standard house and told the builder I want the Caravelle 600 under counterbasin, I need five of them. Large, deep, practical and reasonably priced. Great choice! How much extra are they charging you for cutting/polishing the stone? Re: Caroma Vanity Basins - what is their quality like? 7May 26, 2010 11:46 am Caroma are one of the more reliable, better brands in the Australian market been around forever. They have been using ceramic forever and used to manufacture in Melbourne, not too sure where they manufacture these days. But really can't go wrong with them as far as value for money.
