Hi! Well I'm pretty much a noob at renovations ^^;; but I've watched a lot of television lol so i've learned a bit. Now here's my problem .. or what might become a problem..
This morning the people came to tile the washroom floor (on 2nd story of house) but I noticed that unlike on Holmes on Homes or etc (television show) there was no subflooring?? I'm not sure what the orange mat is called but if I remember correctly Holmes suggested that people use it to prevent water/moisture from being able to get onto the wood beneath the tiles. I've suggested my worries to the people that did the tiling but they said it's not necessary. They're not very re-ensuring! I'm afraid they did faulty work or cut corners. Currently, the layers are like this: wood floor => grey thing => tiles.
Do I really need a the subflooring orange mat thing??? And ask them to re-do...
Or should I just leave it be??? And pay them for this...
Someone please help.. lol
Note: I'm sorry if this is very confusing ><" i'm trying my best to explain ^^;;

Bella that’s the best option, I would even recommend you use the waterproofing over the whole floor not just the joins. yume_87 however it is a must to waterproof the whole floor. This is not the responsibility of the tiler, rather a totally different contractor.
