We just bought a house and decided to renovate the bathroom which was pathetically small. We wanted to add an extra toilet and rip out the bath, retile the whole place and add a new vanity, had a bathroom company come over an gave us a quote, it was a staggering $16000 and another company quoted us $10-12,000. We decided to do it ourselves, sourcing for tradies and tiles and vanity. Our cost so far: Plumbing-adding the sewage to the bathroom for the extra toilet, change the old cistern in the old toilet, change the taps for the shower area and vanity- $2500 Tiles removal: for bathroom and toilet $400 Tiling: for toilet and bathroom: $1000 Tiles: $150 ( Ceramic Warehouse) $88 from Crosby Shower screen: $420 from Mcmahon Auctioneer Vanity and Tap: $404 2 new toilets: $300 for both from ebay Total: $ 5262 Work still in progress so will only know how it looks after that, but so far it looks good. So for that price difference, better off organising it yourself but it takes alot of time and effort sussing out cheap deals and driving around to get the stuff.
