This is the bathroom in the house I am buying...

Me, my mum nor the real estate guy, could work out why there is all the strange wasted space around the bath (the unnecessary gap filling). The only guess we have is that there was exposed plumbing, or the bath originally was freestanding but has been boxed in (i'm thinking its the second option).
Anyways my plan is going to be a total stripping and redoing of this room. Its a very small space. I'm thinking of moving the basin to the wall at the end of the room opposite the bath. Not sure yet.
The bath appears to be a classic which I'm thinking of either selling or respraying. Not sure yet.
There is already a separate toilet off the laundry at the back of the house. Should I put in a 2nd toilet? There is some strange pipes protruding from the exterior of the back wall, that don't match up to the basin, and indicate that the toilet was originally in the room anyway. So if thats the case it probably won't be too hard to link a new one up.
The mirror I like. It is fixed into the old window (this used to be the external wall of the back of the house, before the verandah was closed in) and I think it looks really awesome. what do you think?
Any other ideas for a small bathroom area reno?? thanks.
