Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 16, 2007 8:44 pm I have a question that maybe someone could help me with.
We have a very good idea of the tiles we will have in our house, and for both the ensuite and bathroom we like the look of having the little square stone mosaic tiles in a strip up the back wall of the shower, and up the bath side, across the hob and up the wall. These tiles come on a backing sheet with 10 x 2 tiles, with each little square tile measuring about 3cm x 3cm. My question is - how wide should the strip be - eg, 2 squares, 4 squares, 6 squares, etc? I don't want it to look too thin as the effect will be lost, but I don't want it to be too wide as this could be overkill... Any links to pictures would be very much appreciated. ~Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Stone mosaic feature tiles 2Jun 16, 2007 9:00 pm We went with 2 strips of 4 glass mosaics at 1200 and 1600 after seeing them done in a display home in narre warren.
The main reason we went with 4 wide was that it matched the width of the white surrounding tile - hope that makes sense feature tile band 3Jun 22, 2007 10:44 am I had a look through some of my photos quickly and only managed to find these images - I don't know if they'll help at all - but its an example of a fairly thin feature band being used, that works quite nicely.
I do think matching the width of the band to the surrounding tile width would work successfully - as mudtrilogy mentioned. It is a safe way of knowing the proportions will all be balanced. What size and format are the surrounding tiles you have chosen? If the are large format you could also do a tile band that is half as wide. I'll have a look for some more photos. Hope this helps.
