Re: Changed my mind - Anyone have THIS one. 2Sep 15, 2009 10:43 pm Something for you to contemplate before you confirm your basins. Those with taps mounted outside the bowl or on the wall will create wet drips on the benchtop when you turn it off after washing hands. Therefore we went with tap mounted on the bowl itself, so any water when turning it off goes into the basin not on bench. But as with everything - each to their own likes - just something you may want to consider. Nice! I've found that if you go to the tradelink site and type in "2500" as your postcode, it gives you prices for everything! Also, you can try the renovation boys website, or bathroom warehouse for prices. Re: Changed my mind - Anyone have THIS one. 5Sep 15, 2009 11:37 pm That basin is an exclusive of Reece, so you wont be able to get the price from another retailer, but they may have something similar. Its a pressed steel basin with a porcelain veneer though, from memory Reece is the only one like that. It retails for about $690. Built with Bentley homes in Doreen All moved in Dec 2009 Now for the garden! My builder will get trade prices but whether they will be much cheaper than $690 - I dont know. Oh well, if I dont get them I will probably regret it! Thanks for the advice on the taps supasquirrel. These are the ones we will be getting: http://www.reece.com.au/bathrooms/products/192347 The lever is quite long and is over the bowl but I can still imagine drips down the back... HEres another question while on taps - because the bowl is quite shallow compared to other top mounts - would the tap stick up quite high of can it be installed to the height to suit the bowl??? Re: Changed my mind - Anyone have THIS one. 7Sep 16, 2009 7:55 am EKT, I fell in love with an ALAPE basin also and was all gung-ho and went in to purchase one. Once I saw it in real life and felt it I found that I really didn't like it at all. The pressed tin it is made out of is a bit wrong...it makes a funny noise when you bang it. To me there was something not quite right about it. Think carefully! Ive called my local Reece store and they have one in stock so i'll drop in today to have a look/feel Re: Changed my mind - Anyone have THIS one. 9Sep 16, 2009 11:38 am just another thing. . . I recall someone else on the forum getting shallow basins and being very disappointed as the water, when it hits the basin, tends to splash back up over the sides. . . I recall someone else on the forum getting shallow basins and being very disappointed as the water, when it hits the basin, tends to splash back up over the sides. . . I thought shallow basins were being pushed by the more environmentally conscious as being very eco-friendly - training people not to turn the taps on so hard, thereby minimising water usage. Sounds good in theory, but what about visitors splashing on their best duds? Kylie Re: Changed my mind - Anyone have THIS one. 11Sep 16, 2009 3:13 pm kb46 jodge just another thing. . . Or enjoy embarrassing your friends! Re: Changed my mind - Anyone have THIS one. 12Sep 16, 2009 3:27 pm That was a thought of mine when searching for a basin but I had other things to consider also - I'm quite short so i didnt want anything too high and i didnt want to make the vanity bench lower because it would look ridiculous. Anyone who has shallow basins have pros cons on this? Ive called my local Reece store and they have one in stock so i'll drop in today to have a look/feel Your right it does feel strange but I kind of like it And it still looks good....but $609 per basin to upgrade. hmmm Very common on rendered homes Smaller suppliers get the lower quality raw materials 6 11869 4 14309 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
