Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 05, 2009 12:32 am Looking at frameless shower screens 900 x 900 and 1200 x 900. What would be a reasonable $$ to pay. Have had a quote at $1625 x $1575. Yet looking online they are going for around $500 to $600. Both are 10mm toughened glass. Thats a very BIG difference for essentially the same. What has anyone else paid?? Re: Frameless shower screen $$$ 2Sep 05, 2009 9:19 am We are paying $900 for our custom made 2 metre high semi-frameless - and it's only the front panel, three sides of the shower are tiled. But we did have other quotes of $1100 and $1350. And custom made frameless is considerably more expensive, I believe. MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Frameless shower screen $$$ 3Sep 06, 2009 2:21 pm The diff in price is the ones for $500 are out a box versus one that is made for your bathroom, the pre-fab ones are a pain to install, and if your walls are not plumb and level you will have big gaps on the wall where the screen does'nt fit properly, the made to measure is the only way to go when you want a clean look of using a frameless screen. Re: Frameless shower screen $$$ 4Sep 07, 2009 12:05 pm I also looked over the week end. Have a look at this link. http://www.bathroomwarehouse.com.au/products/browse-products/showers/toughened-glass-frameless-shower/cat_59.html Re: Frameless shower screen $$$ 5Oct 15, 2009 11:04 am I would expect to pay about that for a frameless shower screen. Half that for a semi-frameless (framed top and bottom). There are then cheaper semi-framed shower screens where you have a frame in the corner, but the pivot door is frameless. Apart from not being custom made to fit, the ones you can buy online will need installation, so there's an extra cost there if you're not good at DIY - I assume the quotes include installation? We had semi-frameless shower screens made for our old house (couldn't afford frameless at the time) and the guy had a bugger of a time fitting them, even though they were custom made. There wasn't a straight wall anywhere in that house. I'm glad we didn't try to do it ourselves... Re: Frameless shower screen $$$ 9Oct 24, 2009 8:59 pm Have done a bit more homework, got another quote & phoned another company. Both were considerably more like $2200 & over $3k, so have gone with the original one & somehow absorb the extra $$ 2 4490 Your shower screen has failed in the way it is designed to fail with tempered glass.
