Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Shower Screen height 21Apr 16, 2011 10:34 am Thanks F.T............ I realised that (obviously) toughened wouldn't have the problem, but didn't know about the rest. Long story short......For a new house there's no reason whatsoever that I (anyone) should have laminated glass, and I (we all) should check our specs to ensure that our builder uses toughened glass. Excellent, and thanks again. P_D (For a quick fix-before-sale job, is laminated "much" cheaper then toughened ?) . We're shorties so removed the hob but in our self-contained unit where my Dad is going to live, we've left the hob in as he's 6'2". I find it too high. When I hang our little over-the-doors hanger for extra towels, it's very hard to reach them. Sometimes I wonder if I should be hanging anything on those screens at all My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Shower Screen height 24Apr 16, 2011 10:17 pm Happy to help with any Q's. *Laminated glass is usually no cheaper than toughened, not used much any more so probably imported (from china) these days so I dont think the quality is what it used to be. May not last as long as the stuff you had installed 20 years ago. Toughened is usually a little cheaper because there is a lot of off cuts when cutting lam. *Hanging metal shampoo holders will probably scratch your frame whether it be anodised or powder coated. The glass wont get scratched unless its sharp or constantly rubbing due to movement. There are lots of options for glass shelves or soap dishes for inside the shower these days. We are having a walk in shower and would like a single glass panel around 1.5 meters wide and as tall as we can. I shudder to think what this might cost and i'm not sure how we would fix it to the ceiling. The ceiling height would be 2.8 meters in the shower area and I was hopeing the glass could reach that high. Thoughts everyone? Re: Shower Screen height 26Apr 21, 2011 8:23 am sceen7 ......would like a single glass panel around 1.5 meters wide and as tall as we can. I shudder to think what this might cost.... If it's what you've got your heart set on, Go for it !!! Skip food this week if need be, this sort of thing, if you don't do it at this stage, you'll never do it !! sceen7 ......... i'm not sure how we would fix it to the ceiling...... An aluminium or stainless-steel U-channel fixed to the ceiling ??? sceen7 ............The ceiling height would be 2.8 meters in the shower area and I was hopeing the glass could reach that high. Thoughts everyone? My only thought is that it'll be a bugger to clean that high for a couple of reasons......One, that it's a long way up, you'll need a (soft-foot) small stepladder kept in the (nearby) laundry, and two, I find the easiest way to clean our shower screen is spray it liberally with Shower-Power, wait 5 minutes and then have a shower and wipe it off. Not sure if you want to be spraying your shower-cleaner so close to the Gyprock ceiling ??? Cheers, P_D . I shouldnt write posts at 2am when I can't sleep does anyone else go to bed thinking of flooring materials and wake up contemplateing tapware? I need a life!!!! Re: Shower Screen height 28Apr 21, 2011 10:24 pm Make sure you will be able to stand the panel of glass up in the bathroom once you get it through the door! If unsure, make a template and try that first. Many a sales rep have overlooked this. It may mean you have to wait with installing your vanity or pan till the glass is in, all depends on the size of the bathroom. Finishing Touch Shower Screens 0404 073 444 Re: Shower Screen height 30Apr 22, 2011 8:55 am Good advice finishing touch, I expect i will have to have the panel in at the frameing stage. Ok now for the sixty four thousand dollar question, How much can I expect to pay for a Glass panel 2 meters long and 2.6 meters high??? Your shower screen has failed in the way it is designed to fail with tempered glass. You could replace it with laminated safety glass but make sure it has AS standards logo on it 1 11186 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9568 You have no photo with your post. Best I can say is to remove an A&L flyscreen don't be afraid to distort the frame almost like a trapezium. It doesn't take a lot of… 1 7075 |
