Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 31, 2009 8:08 pm Hi, We are looking to get a semi-frameless shower screen for our newly-renovated ensuite and are in the process of getting quotes. Our shower is tiled on three sides, so the shower screen will only be across the front. It is on a shower base, not a tiled floor. One of the glass guys we got to quote for us has said that he is concerned that because there is a 5mm gap all around the door in a semi-frameless shower (ie because that part is frameless), water can leak out on to the bathroom floor. Our bathroom is upstairs, with no centre drain, and is adjacent to a carpeted walk-through robe, so he thinks this may be a problem. We have got three other quotes, but noone else has mentioned this problem. Has anyone else got a semi-frameless screen and have you found any leakage problems? Thanks, MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Do semi-frameless shower screens leak? 2Aug 31, 2009 9:06 pm We have semi-frameless. How much water gets through the gap is dependant on where your shower head is located. Ours is on one end, so it's not a major problem. As the water droplets don't travel at 90 degrees from the showerhead, the only water that gets through the gap is what bounces off the body & that's barely anything at all. I don't see that you will have problems. Thanks, Southies, good to know!!! We have a rail with the hand-held shower thingy attached - this guy reckoned that if you took the hand-held thingy off the rail and splashed it around you might have a problem - but I don't anticipate doing that. Surely if there was some small leakage on the bathroom floor, you would just mop it up? That's what I used to do at our old house, no problem. It's not like a tsunami would be heading for the walk-in robe or anything! The worst problem I have with water is when my husband gets out of the shower. I swear he must shake himself like a dog.... It's the only possible explanation.
