Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 30, 2009 4:57 pm Hi all, I have been surfing the net for 20mins or so trying to see if there is such a thing as a movement sensor exhaust fan. Or if not, whether it is possible to install a movement sensor above a shower cubicle. I own a motel and we r updating the rooms and bathrooms, and I find that most people do not use the exhaust fan when showering, therefore requiring me to clean exhaust fans more often! I found a Vapotec steam sensor but cant seem to find any info on it without going into a million of those generic sites, so thort I wd ask if anyone here has one, and whether they work well. Thanks in advance for your input. Regards, Mandy Re: Movement Sensor exhaust fans - is there such a thing 2Aug 30, 2009 5:25 pm I've not seen or heard of a sensor exhaust fan before. You could connect the exhaust fan to the light switch, so when the guest turns on the light switch the fan goes on as well. Good Luck! 2fk Re: Movement Sensor exhaust fans - is there such a thing 3Aug 30, 2009 6:08 pm Just buy a seperate movement sensor. Connect anything u want to it. I bought a reasonably expensive one ($180 ) and it is the single worst purchase I have ever made. I won't mention the brand as its a mainstream brand in that field. It comes on when I don't want it to and its almost impossible to get it to come on when needed (toilet and showering) Re: Movement Sensor exhaust fans - is there such a thing 6Sep 01, 2009 2:32 pm Thanks 4 that Dukekamaya. What seems to be the problem with yours. I imagine u have the sensor where u think it needs to be. I am only wanting it for when the shower is used. I am sick of cleaning exhaust fans! And I wd definitely instal one in my hubbys ensuite if I found one that wd work. Thanks, Mandy Re: Movement Sensor exhaust fans - is there such a thing 7Sep 01, 2009 9:02 pm It is located in a laundry/ 2nd bathroom. The optical sensor is meant to work 180' in all directions (up,down, left, right etc) It is located above the shower in the wall and directly facing the toilet. It rarely comes on when they are in use and comes on EVERY time you stand near the washing machine or even popping an arm in to get a beer out of the fridge inside the door Re: Movement Sensor exhaust fans - is there such a thing 8Sep 01, 2009 9:26 pm MandyT I found a Vapotec steam sensor but cant seem to find any info on it without going into a million of those generic sites, so thort I wd ask if anyone here has one, and whether they work well. Thanks in advance for your input. Regards, Mandy I've bought Vapotec for my new house, for approx $100, it's wired, but since I'm just before the lock-up and there's no power yet, I haven't seen it in action. It was recommended to me by a couple of other people. I assume that you've seen the tech info on Vapotec page http://www.vapotec.com.au/.
