Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 30, 2009 12:20 am Hi there, We've discovered that our bathroom floor is chipboard underneath the tiles - and this chipboard is now rotting.. (one of many ******* renos by previous owner.... anyway).. So we're going to rip up the floor tiles and chipboard, replace with concrete sheeting and new floor tiles.. We've nominally chosen a floor tile - and would appreciate some feedback as to whether our tile of choice goes OK with the existing wall tiles that will be staying. Here is a link to a small set of photos which show what I mean: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bpolli/sets/72157622050988485/ The color contrast in the pics is not always great.. In short, the existing walls are a pale cream color (you can see the reddy/brown top edging in one of the pics), the proposed floor tiles are slightly darker than the existing floor tiles and the wall.. Aside from the edging it's a fairly neutral colored room - and we intend to keep it that way.. I know in some pics it looks like the floor & wall tiles are almost the same color - but you'll see in the close up pics that this is far from being the case. Appreciate any comments.. Thanks in advance Re: Retiling bathroom floor - advice please 2Aug 30, 2009 12:39 am Hello bp. . . I think the colours look just fine, I'm a huge fan of neutral! One thing I've found over the years though that might not be a problem for you. . . I have long dark hair which tends to get all over the place, not least of all the bathroom floor. . . I used to live in an apartment with cream tiles on the floor and swore I'd always put a dark colour down if I had the choice, so I didn't have to vacuum the bathroom floor every day. (Minimum cleaning = maximum happiness for Jo!) Re: Retiling bathroom floor - advice please 3Aug 30, 2009 8:23 am Hi bp, I like the colours too.. can't really get more neutral than that! Have you thought about even going a bit darker .. maybe a colour a bit lighter than a mocha colour? Am just thinking along the same lines as jodge, light tiles on floors can be a challenge to keep clean. I have long blonde hair and you can still see it all over the light tiles. Cleaning bathrooms is not fun at the best of times 2fk Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8423 This is a very tight fit, I'm not sure if you'll be able to achieve what you've described. Would you consider accessing the separate toilet from the laundry? If so maybe… 1 11256 Have had a few issues with out recently done bathroom floor. Probably around 18 months old First there has been been a crack running through a grout line which I put… 0 2181 |
