Nicer than the youth hostel bathrooms that I've seen too! But I'm not sure that I'd actually like using it. The benchtop looks like rough stone and I can imagine them getting pretty grotty and not being able to be cleaned properly - particularly if its only the guests cleaning for free board. A smooth surface would be much more hygenic with so many people using it. I also imagine the frosted glass will get pretty grotty quickly and look it. And I doubt anyone would clean the top of the wall under the benchtop too.

I don't like it, the floor looks like lino, the bit under the sinks is going to gather dust, the taps have a bad shape where the metal comes out, too close to clean between the gaps and the frosted glass will show up any splatter marks. The liquid soap dispenser is only on the one pillar for 3 sinks. Looks like a hosedown job. No thanks

I used to house share with someone who worked at one of these cleaning companys. Told me about the issue of germs in shared soap - think soap with cracks filled with black something. Soap dispensers in shared facilities are a good idea.

I agree with 3xb on the floor and cakes of soap too - they are horrible but I thought I'd expressed enough opinions! Also there are no soap dishes so can you imagine the mess that used slimy bars of soap on rough stone are going to leave - urggh! I'm all for soap dispensers.

So what about touching the soap dispenser to get the soap out?

I'm seriously not concerned a toss about the health aspects, but I am thinking of putting in foot pedal taps to save water.
Which would acheive your objective too Mish!

Foot pedal taps, foot pedal soap, foot pedal plug.
Now what do we do about the light switch ? Sensor light, so it is only on when we need it.

The Plug I have seen in Europe, and the taps, well hospitals have them so why not domestic.?

And when I think of it, I have been in yachts that have foot pump taps which are manual pumping taps that pump seawater as the first rinse water from the ocean..

I hate those raised sinks in any context.

Very trendy. Will date quickly. Not suitable for kids. Hard to clean around the base.

As for the TVs everywhere - think 1984. It is almost exactly the same scenario: omnipresent video screens pumping out propaganda. They're often placed to give a feeling for "luxury", yet it's almost the opposite - a sign of slavery.

Mobile phones have done a similar thing - yes they're great for convenience, safety etc, but their primary function has been to make workers permanently "on call" like the servants of old trotting to their master at the ring of a bell.

True luxury is freedom from mobiles, TVs & advertising.

Edit: Forgive the raves. It's Friday night and I've just had a most wonderful scotch ;-)
