Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 23, 2009 7:46 pm Our tiler has laid our chosen tiles on our laundry floor. Unfortunately, the tiles are laid slightly unevenly as they fall to the floor waste, & some corners are 1-2 mm sitting higher/lower than level. Our tiles are 300mm sq porcelain. The tiler was shown them prior to accepting the job, & we made a point of asking him if he was comfortable laying them. He said he had laid tiles this size with no problem. He feels the job is perfect, & told my OH that 'tiles aren't made of rubber, you know'. We don't want him to continue with the job til we sort something out. The job in total is $6,000 (plus the cost of the tiles, which we had already bought). Are we being too critical? Is this an 'acceptable' job? My OH also told him that we are super picky prior to starting....... Do you have couple of pics to post perhaps we can assess the problem if any Thanks Re: Tiling - What are your Expectations? 5Aug 24, 2009 9:00 am It doesn't sound right to me, I haven't found this anywhere in my entire house of tiles, the neighbourhood would have heard about it now if I had Did he screed the floor first, our tiler insisted on doing this to all wet areas so as to get the right fall to the drains. Re: Tiling - What are your Expectations? 6Aug 24, 2009 1:05 pm Hard to pick up in pix cause of lighting. We weren't there at the time, but he put down the sand, cemet, put lines in the cemet radiating to drain holes, then put down tiles using some sort of glue/rubber product. The other wet areas have the same cemet treatment done so we can see this. Life's too short too drink bad wine Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq.
