Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 19, 2009 9:34 pm We're building a house with Metricon and we've noticed that they do not waterproof the bathroom before fitting in all the joineries. All the cabinets and bath tub etc have been installed, but no waterproofing has been done. I've raised the issue with them, and was advised that they use an alternative approved method which waterproofs after joineries are in. Areas behind cabinets etc won't need to be waterproofed. Does anyone know about this new approved method which apparently all major builders now adopt? PS. where can I seek information if I'm concerned about certain construction quality issues such as waterproofing? are there independent building inspectors that we can contact to inspect our house?
