Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 16, 2009 12:36 pm I am currently renovating my bathroom but have encountered a major problem. There has never been an exhaust fan in the bathroom and with all the new tiles and paint etc, I would like to install one. The problem is the bathroom is upstairs in a townhouse with raked or "catherdral" type ceilings. this means no ceiling cavity and sloping roof. is there any way to install an IXL 3-in 1 in a roof with no cavity (maybe some type of weatherproof vent?) and also on a sloping roof? Otherwise do you have any suggestions for some type of exhaust fan? i would prefer through the roof if this is even possible but there is a fixed glass window which could be an option. Can glaziers put in a new window upstairs from the outside very easily? Would also be good to be able to install downlights but again, with no ceiling cavity, is this even possible? Lots of questions i know but any suggestions or advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance Re: IXL Style (or any!) Exhaust Fan - Raked/Cathedral Ceiling 3Aug 04, 2009 10:10 pm Hi, we also have a raked ceiling and very little roof space...not enough roof space to put an tastic style fan. We are just having a standard type ceiling fan, with a draft stopper. It will be vented to the roof with one of those little "top-hat" type things, sort of like shown in this link http://www.draftstoppa.com.au/Text/1211350564347-9498/ , but not this exact thing. Sorry for my really bad description, but I don't actually have my electrical plan here to see what it is called. I remember the electrician was worried about how it would look as we are having 3 of these on our roof, but for us it won't matter as you can't see the roof very easily. Hope that helps a bit??
