Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 13, 2009 9:50 am Out of curiosity - before you purchase a toilet are you actually game to sit on it and see if the 'fit' is right?? We have selected a toilet for our reno (and we need to get 4 units) but I just realised (after using one elsewhere which was far from comfortable ) that I really do not know what I am about to purchase apart from "it looks good" Any feedback on the products out there???? progress viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20401 sculptures viewtopic.php?f=36&t=26607 pole trouble viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25988 Re: Toilet testing 3Jul 13, 2009 1:50 pm Haha well personally I look down the toilet to make sure its got a big opening at the bottom, as unblocking toilets isnt my idea of fun (I once had a friends daughter use my toilet a throw almost a full roll of TP down it and try to flush) I guess its the toilet SEAT that would make it comfortable, not the toilet itself. So if its not comfy, go to Bunnings and buy a new seat Building 'The Kingston' (with 'Boston' elevation) through Blueprint Homes in Hocking, Perth **PCI complete 06.02.10** My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17607 Re: Toilet testing 5Jul 13, 2009 2:53 pm NatB Haha well personally I look down the toilet to make sure its got a big opening at the bottom, as unblocking toilets isnt my idea of fun (I once had a friends daughter use my toilet a throw almost a full roll of TP down it and try to flush) I guess its the toilet SEAT that would make it comfortable, not the toilet itself. Some loo's are lower than others. That is exactly how the question came up!!! What suits the taller members of my family leaves the shorted ones with feet dangling progress viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20401 sculptures viewtopic.php?f=36&t=26607 pole trouble viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25988 Re: Toilet testing 7Jul 13, 2009 4:07 pm If the toilet is lower / higher than you're used to I imagine it may be something you just get used to again anyway? The first time I sat on our new toilets it felt a bit strange, but now it's just "normal". But in saying that I think height has more to do with comfort than the seat does. Reckon if you tried it out in the showroom with the pants down maybe they'll give you an extra discount or more likely just kick you out! Re: Toilet testing 8Jul 13, 2009 4:11 pm I tried my toilets out at petal's house! She has the same ones I'm getting. She is the only other person I know with concealed cisterns. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Some I saw have sharp corners. - back of the bowl should be consealed (easier to clean). Once the above are right, sitting on it (a must) becomes more or less a rubber stamp job. So keep an eye on the loos with like a dip/hill in them, hard to explain. It wasn't like the old style one that looked like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Toilet testing 19Jul 20, 2009 9:32 pm Definitely try out your loo before purchasing (pants ON of course)! It's an expensive uhh "piece of furniture" so you have to be happy with it before you commit. I sat on a good half dozen loos before purchasing the one I bought. I'm sure the sales staff thought I was nuts but what the heck! Oh, I also have a concealed cistern. If anything goes wrong with them, the button comes off and the loo is serviced through the hole where the button is located. 2fk Re: Toilet testing 20Jul 22, 2009 8:26 pm I don't think we have ever thought of finding the toilet the builder is supplying and trying it out!
