Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 20, 2009 11:19 am I am about to commence renovating a very small downstairs ensuite (just shower, toilet, hand basin). It is very small and although there is a little window, I would like to get more light in the room. The door is currently a sliding one however I would like to replace it with something to let in more light. I am thinking maybe a door with glass panels but worried about the privacy issue. Has anyone used glass panel doors internally? Any other suggestions? The new door can either be sliding or even bifold but an open-out traditional door probably not a good idea. I can't put in a sky light because the house is two story and this ensuite is on the bottom! Please help. PS The whole ensuite is being completely replaced so I am basically open to any ideas. And photos would be great too! Most privacy glass tends to work best if the private subject is not up to close. I had that wavy glass in my old Bathroom window, found you could still see through it i think the frosted stuff is better and would us that if given the choice. Might want to consider safety glass even if its not required because if you do smash it chances are there will be a lot of exposed skin. What about trying to muck around with the lighting in the room, Softer white or blue colours look more natural than default yellow Lights hidden that illuminate a wall with out having the light source obvious. Maybe 2 downlights instead of one but slightly dimmer so its a more even light. Large mirror spanning wall to make room appear bigger there for brighter. Re: Bathroom door with glass panels - anyone got one? 5Jun 23, 2009 8:00 pm hi thanks for the tips, my bathroom is currently under construction (the tiler was here today) and my fingers are crossed! The tip about the lighting was very good as this is something I had not even considered. As the current lighting is fluro, it may be that ANY glass I use will be transparent. This could cause a problem as the bathroom is mostly used by visiting mother in law (spare room is downstairs and she doesn't like to climb stairs!). Not sure she would be comfortable in a semi-transparent environment! If so what were the "special circumstances" under which it was granted?
