Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 07, 2009 11:12 pm Hi everyone, Was wondering if everyone thought this was the best layout for my ensuite Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was thinking maybe moving the shower to the corner opposite the door, the toilet to where the shower was and then vanity along the wall where the door is. Any thoughts? Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: My Ensuite 3Jun 07, 2009 11:28 pm From what I can work out on the plan its: 2350(w) x 2660 (L) Does that sound about right? lol Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: My Ensuite 4Jun 08, 2009 5:31 pm That's about the same size as ours then, slightly smaller but not really because our WIR takes a bit of the space, I think I would put it similar to our ensuite, have a look at the floor plan here, this way if you want you can make the shower a bit bigger (we did), I don't have my modified plan here but you the standard ensuite is like this: Edit: sorry, photobucket is playing up, you can download the floor plan from their website here: http://admin.swearjar.com.au/media/prod ... 93_103.pdf Otherwise your suggestion would work too! Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: My Ensuite 5Jun 09, 2009 4:19 pm Looks good! The window restricts you a bit with layout options. The only other space saver you could consider is ditching the vanity and installing a corner vanity to open the room up a bit. Your room will look huge and give you some more options for a bigger shower. The only downside is you'll loose a sink. Otherwise, I think your current plan is your best option. Colin Re: My Ensuite 7Jun 18, 2009 7:16 pm Helloween I like the way it is.. cos you can bolt to the toilet without having to dodge the shower. LOL I had never thought of that Sorry for not replying, I never got an email saying there was a reply Slight, well I think a huge hiccup with my ensuite as of last night!! When I was doing the layout for the ensuite, I orginally put in a single basin but was told my sales guy that double came standard and if I wanted a double it wouldn't cost me anymore. Well... 6 weeks down the track after some modification with the electrical plan I got a new plan and new quote emailed to me last night. I noticed there was a $880 charge for double vanity. I emailed straight back, asking why. Reply I got was.. Apology, I thought they were standard but they are not so there is a charge now. I'M NOT HAPPY!!!! Do I pay the extra $880 for the double, which I haven't budgeted for... or do I go to a single?? arrhhhhh Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: My Ensuite 9Jun 18, 2009 9:52 pm I don't think I'm going to get any extra bench space if I drop to one. I'm pretty sure that the size of the bench will decrease to single bowl size Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: My Ensuite 10Jun 18, 2009 10:15 pm Hi eljay, i'd stick with the single aswell - purely because $880.00 is a lot for an extra sink that you may not actually use (at moment cuz there's only one of you ) and all the little $880.00's add up...if you are planning to sell the house with a year or two and think that double sinks will increase resale value then cool, but if you are building the home for you indefinitely, 1 sink should be fine as well how did you go with your land val stuff? i hope everything worked out ok 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: My Ensuite 11Jun 19, 2009 6:32 pm Jess, I'm not to sure how long I'm going to be here. I'm still really unsettled, maybe just missing all my friends and family - that lonely factor So I don't know how long I'll be here. I'm hoping that having my own place again will make it easier. I'll have my freedom back. I'm struggling with the renting thing and not being able to do what I want to do I dumped my broker lol Yeah I know, I love living on the edge. I've gone back to my cousin who already has all the paperwork into the bank, all within 3 days! I'm happier now. Hopefully they will do the valuation next week and come in on price *fingers crossed*. I should start up a thread and stick to that one haha Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: My Ensuite 12Jun 21, 2009 4:09 pm Don't know about the double/single question, Eljay - that will depend on what you need and what you can afford. But as for the layout, I like it as is. With the vanity(s) opposite the door, you'll see the room reflected in the mirror above it as you open the door. Mirrors make a room look bigger....and if the vanity's on the same wall as the door, you'd lose a lot of that effect. Does that even make sense? I know what I mean.... Re: My Ensuite 13Jun 21, 2009 4:31 pm I like the current layout also. I imagine that you won't always have the door closed (or will you?) in which case with the door open you're looking directly at the vanity, which as far as bathrooms go is probably the best view to have (well your partners opinion may differ, if the door is open and you're having a shower ). Our ensuite is open (ie no door) and is laid out pretty much the same way, apart from where the toilet is, there is a door and leads to the seperate (poky as they always are) toilet room. As for the double sink deal, if it's not included then ask why it's show as such on the plans, if it's on the plans it must be included (well from my understanding). I personally don't see the point of double sinks, but then again my Husband doesn't shave every day either! Seriously though it's not that hard to wait turns when brushing our teeth, and apart from that we'd only use it to wash hands, etc, and besides if it's that crucial there is always the other bathroom! But your opinion may differ of course, and for a start I certainly wouldn't let it go that easily if you were lead to believe it was included. Re: My Ensuite 14Jun 22, 2009 9:24 am I wouldn't pay the extra just for a double sink. Especially if it's not in your budget, and as you are saying you are having a hard time with rent. I think most of us know how that is. Besides, $880 is a lot of money over budget, if you do want to spend that much more, then put it towards something that you feel is a must have. The fact that you are questioning whether to spend the extra money, suggests that you know you really shouldn't. So DON"T!! Contracted completion date 24 July 2010. What's today's date????? Re: My Ensuite 15Jun 22, 2009 9:35 am I couldn't live my double basins, DH and I are always getting ready at the same time. I sound like you are alone atm but will you always be alone??? and I don't have a huge amount of bench space in my ensuite, enough to put the hairdryer down, tissue box and soap dispenser and a few bottles of DH's cologne it's enough, I like everything away so don't care about that. Re: My Ensuite 16Jun 22, 2009 5:58 pm Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your comments!! Your right though! I hadn't budgeted for them, I'm there on my own (hopefully not forever lol), so I'm going to go the single vanity. Less to clean too! I might actually have room in there now for a small bin!
