Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 03, 2009 8:09 pm We've laid some "mocca" coloured floor tiles in our bathroom. We were going to use "dark brown" grout we bought from Bunnings, but noticed that it was a warm choclatey brown and didn't match the greyish cool brown of the tiles. My question is, what colour grout could I use to get a closer match to the colour of the tiles? I don't want to have something light because we haven't laid the tiles perfectly and I think that would be really obvious with a contrasting grout. Would dark grey look funny with what are essentially brown tiles? Or, do you know where (western suburbs of Melbourne) I can look at and/or buy a bigger range of grout colours? Thanks Re: Grout colour for "mocha" floor tiles 2Jun 03, 2009 9:01 pm I would take a tile into a proper tile shop, somewhere like Beaumonts and they should have a good range of grout colours to chose from. Re: Grout colour for "mocha" floor tiles 3Jun 06, 2009 12:58 pm bunnings has the grout colors there on a selection tray take a cut off piece of tile and place it next to the colours you may have to try a few before you get what you want just do a small area with the grout and let it dry for 24 hrs before deciding as the color will change once completely dry and you are right your mistakes will be noticeable with a lighter grout. its $10.00 per pack of grout so not a huge expense really to get the right color for you and the spare packs may be used later in an outdoor project or a friend or relo may need grout good luck please post pics of your final decision ty stay safe happy building Re: Grout colour for "mocha" floor tiles 4Jun 09, 2009 4:45 pm I agree go to a proper tile shop. Bunnings is just like Home Depot here in Canada. They have limited selection. You might be able to find a store that can do custom tinting on your grout for you. If you can find a grout that's just a a few tints lighter I would suggest that. It will create enough contrast to make it pop without making it look like a sheet of grid paper. Colin Re: Grout colour for "mocha" floor tiles 5Jun 09, 2009 5:01 pm Thank you everyone! I went out to Sunshine where there are a few tile stores and a really large Bunnings. I tried the Bunnings first and found that they actually do have a pretty big selection of beige, grey and brown grouts. I think if you were looking for a blue or pink or something you'd have to go to a proper tile shop. I ended up with a Davco one called Espresso which seemed to be slightly lighter than my tiles. It dried to a very nice light brown which looks really good and doesn't show the imperfections too much. I also ended up buying a Dunlop one called Ultra White for my very shiny white wall tiles. Apparently this is less grainy than a normal grout so I am hoping this will look good Thanks splashers, that makes sense. The waterproofing guy used this Davco product, I will raise the issue with builder and hopefully get resolved with him - if not… 2 12866 Hi everyone, Have just put a shower in the laundry and after only using it 2-3 times have noticed staining on the grout.
