Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 31, 2009 10:10 am I have chosen Ivory/Cream tiles in my bathrooms. The vanities are white gloss but the tops are Caeserstone Osprey which is a mix of both colours. I thought it would avoid the 'white'' cleaning issues and it would be a bit more of a softer ''spa" type unwind, retreaty looking style (you with me? ). I like the tropical type look. I LOVE the white but for some unknown reason I keep choosing things and then thinking later that I have chosen the wrong thing? Our border tile is natural stone with off white, chcocolate and brown stones. The walls are Moon River and the trims are White Smoke. The floor is a Porcelain neutral colour that will go with anything. SO why IS it that I am now thinking that I should have gone white??? I have attached photos of the walls, trims, border tile and the bench ops inthe other photo. I am just wondering what others think about he white/Ivory issue? It's just that I like the white also...oh bugger... I ended up going for the white wall tile as the grout was white and I couldn't afford any more upgrades. If you're going to go ivory I'd match the grout colour and then I think that would be fine. I think the ivory will look softer, however I also say go with your gut if your gut is telling you to change and you're having 2nd thoughts... I'd change it. Do you have any photos of bathrooms that you've used for inspiration? I am so glad it's not just me! We have chosen a grout that matches the tiles so it's not white. (ANother thing I wanted to avoid) No I don't have any photos for inspiration it's just in my head. I want sort of an ''exhale'' feel that the ivory will give as opposed to the ""ïnhale"" feel of the white, you know what I mean. I like both equally. If anyone has any Ivory coloured bathrooms with tropical resorty type feel to show me I would love to see them! www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: White versus Ivory Tiles 4May 31, 2009 11:59 am Something like this colour scheme, more the style of the top one though. ...maybe? I'd go with the ivory! Re: White versus Ivory Tiles 8May 31, 2009 2:19 pm Thank you Bam they are from Beaumont Tiles. I would have to mention that the lady has been very, very helpful. I chose this tile from a selection in the showroom BUT the one on display had the same stones but much smaller and in my opinion, neater and classier. When I received my sample in the post, this is what I got. I asked why it was soooooooo different to the display I chose and apparently, the SUPPLIER (NOT Beaumont) said it is because they are natural stones and variable. A point that I accept BUT...it is not anything like the one that I chose, so although I am not really satisfied I have to go with it. I think it is because it would be more cost effective and save time/labour to stick on bigger stones than the little ones, but what would I know? The colours are nice aren't they? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: White versus Ivory Tiles 9May 31, 2009 2:38 pm Couldnt they just smash them up more? Seriously though... could they not allow you to exchange them for smaller stones? If they knew thats what your were specifically after, surely it wouldnt be such a hard thing to do? Regardless, they're beautiful. I cant wait to see what it all looks like together. And you're the second person who has directed me to Beaumont so Im going to search for my closest store now! Re: White versus Ivory Tiles 11May 31, 2009 4:08 pm I would definitely go with the ivory tiles. White would look out of place. Love the border you've picked. We've picked a stone one from Beaumont too, but ours is ivory, darker cream and dark grey. Judie Re: White versus Ivory Tiles 12May 31, 2009 9:48 pm I had this dilemma too, but went with white in the end, as it looked cleaner, less yellow and more modern. Also we have white walls, so it tied in better with them. I also have a stone feature tile. In your case with your Moonriver walls I think you've made the right choice with ivory, it's more relaxed and warm. Though in that first pic you put up the tiles look more beige-y to me.... Re: White versus Ivory Tiles 13Jun 01, 2009 7:37 am Thanks donuts. I suppose the tiles are Beigy but the sticker on them says Ivory Gloss so that's why I assume they are. They go well with the Moon River I think. It's so hard to tell when you haven't seen the room and the light and reflections etc...how the true colour will show. I am not even sure that we would be "allowed" to change our selection to white.I agree with the white being a more modern look, and I like it equally (thus the dilemma ). Someone said to me that the ''look'' between bathrooms being white and then Ivory will change back and forth in the next 20 years. The house will have the earthy tones and I think the Ivory will blend better with that. The vanities will be white gloss so I guess that enough modern white and I can just add to it. I did a lot of image Googling and as far as I saw, the tropical villa type spa -y places go mostly with the Ivory because it's subdued and relaxing. That's the feeling I would like to achieve, if possible. How ridiculous I am, all this indecision over White versus Ivory. Sorry guys you must think I am nuts. Thanks for putting up with me and helping me out. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: White versus Ivory Tiles 14Jun 01, 2009 10:06 pm We're all nuts themax and you are definitely not being ridiculous the house we just moved from (first build) had ivory walls and floor tiles, it is a softer look and I love the photos above, they look very tranquil and it sounds like that is what you were after when you chose your ivory tiles. I like the ivory all over look very much. We have white walls now but only because we did the ivory last time. Granted, white is a more modern look, but I think you could make your ivory bathroom very tropical and modern too.
