And I’m sure you want always be showing together…… If that’s all you can do, then that’s that. I think it will be fine; you both just won’t be able to do the waltz in there Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Ensuite advice.... 22May 16, 2009 9:13 am Is Bed 2 intended to be a guest room? If it is then I would reduce the size of the WIR. If it's not intended to be a guest room then I I'd rethink the powder/semi-ensuite situation. I think I'd leave that as Bed 2's ensuite and find space for a guest powder room elsewhere. Great plan! What's the idea for the studio? Re: Ensuite advice.... 23May 16, 2009 9:15 am I was messing around with the layout the other day and couldn't really come up with anthing that is better than what you have already. We're having an open shower next to the bath and in making the decision to have an open shower I've acknowledged that we will get water in and around the bath. I'm going to get a few chamois cloths and the rule will be - wipe the bath and surrounds after every shower. Will only take 30 seconds. We also put the toilet in a slightly seperate section of our ensuite for the same reason Though I don't have a door on the dividing wall, but I am putting a fan above the toilet. I assume you have - but have you considered putting underfloor heating in the bathroom? We have opted for underfloor heating because of the open style shower - would be nothing worse that showering in an open shower if it was cold in there. Though I suppose as a new build you're probably putting in ducted and will have a vent in the bathroom? OH and i have to say - your house is going to be AMAZING!!!! Re: Ensuite advice.... 24May 16, 2009 9:34 am OK - so I've had another play around with it and thought I'd give you a really different idea Looking at that corner space in the WIR, it's going to be a bit of a dead corner - so I thought what if the bathroom & WIR were swapped? I've attached my really rough drawing. I've included the sizes so you can see what size vanity etc will fit - my drawing is not to scale (but I did work out all the measurements in my trusty excel document... I'd make such a ******* designer!! haha Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Ensuite advice.... 25May 16, 2009 10:17 am I've had a little play too. I don't find a separate room for toilet necessary, but it's a personal choice. I feel like your original WIR is a bit small considering the rest of the house. Bed 3 will be a guest room (with a relative staying in the interim - 2yrs) The idea of the studio is to for my musical instruments and a place to play them without disturbing the rest. (we plan to have gatherings in the HT room and if need to, the easy access between HT room and studio helps one to bring out the instruments during the meetings) also a future possibility of doing minor recordings in that studio Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: Ensuite advice.... 28May 16, 2009 11:40 am esg I was messing around with the layout the other day and couldn't really come up with anthing that is better than what you have already. OH and i have to say - your house is going to be AMAZING!!!! can one put underfloor heating in the shower area?? as in... will there be cases of short-circuits? pardon my ignorance... just that we are in Perth, and i seldom hear ppl instal underfloor heating... guess it doesn't get as cold here Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: Ensuite advice.... 29May 16, 2009 11:41 am Cool, studio sounds great. If Bed 2 is your parents room, given the size of the home, I would try to find space for another powder room elsewhere so that guests don't have to use "their" toilet. Re: Ensuite advice.... 30May 16, 2009 4:48 pm Championboxer - yes underfloor heating can go in the shower area. I think they use a slightly different cord for that though - the guy who put ours in mentioned something... my eyes just glazed over haha! Not sure you'd need it in Perth though? We're in the Adelaide Hills, so it regularly gets to 3 degrees and lower in the colder months. We had 'under screed' heating put in, so it has the screed, and then the tiles on top of it. Had to let him know where the shower screen would be going so that it wont get drilled into, but should be no concern about shorting out under the shower if installed properly. Here's a pic of ours when it was laid. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And once the screed went on you can't see it at all (excuse the paw prints.... my puppy thought he'd sign the bathroom!!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the controls will just go on the wall next to the light switch (the little box hanging off the wall in this pic is where the controller will be connected next week). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Oh and for size reference, the space we had for our ensuite is 1.9m x 4m - so similar width to your but a lot shorter. Just thought i'd mention it as a visual guide to how much more space you'll have to work with. We fitted a bath, a open shower (a smidgen under 900mm wide), a 1200 vanity and a toilet seperated by a privacy wall. When the sparky was doing the electrical for the room I told him I was getting underfloor heating, so he made provisions for it and left a cord hanging down the wall, so that after it was gyrocked all the heating guys needed to do was attach the wires to the cord and pull it up through the wall. Shower is next to the bath (haven't got the taps etc on yet, but you can see where they'll go on the wall next to the bath. Toilet is at the other end of the bathroom - to the left of the vantiy with a wall dividing it away from the rest of the ensuite. This photo makes it look like you look straight at the toilet when go in, but it's just the angle of the photo. You actually face the vanity when you go in and the door opens inwards with hinges on the left, so even someone walking into the bathroom can't see the toilet unless they open the door completely wide open or go in and close it behind them. Just offers a bit more privacy that way. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6138 the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11832 |
