Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 08, 2009 2:53 pm I am half way through the design process with my builder. Due to a door issue in the bedroom (not shown in pic)I have extra room to use in the WIR or ensuite. I've just put the following idea together and invite comments and suggestions. I've always wanted a huge walk in shower and this one is 1700mm x 1850mm. The wall that faces the centre of the room would be 1200mm high and should let plenty of light into the shower. The vanity could slide along to the outside wall or extend in both directions. Don't want a bath. The room size is 2850 x 3900mm. That would be brilliant I love massive vanitys. I would extend the full length and have the double basins. BEAUTIFUL. How does your house plan sit?? 1. Could you move the window onto the wall on the right? 2. Put the vanity against the back wall 3. Move the toilet to the right hand side 4. extend your shower the full length of the left wall. That would be a massive shower. You could have shower head at either end of your shower? ( obviously would be a bit of rearranging) Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! I've made the shower to wide and I want the toilet in a seperate room. I thought about the double shower idea but I don't know how often it would get used. Is it one of those things you just do anyway so it looks good? I had another play with it. This time I've got it so you don't have to go through the WIR to get to the ensuite. I made the half height wall a bit wider just because I felt like it. You could get away without having that wall but I put it in just for appearances. In my opinion, the first is better just due to the fact you get to keep more walk in robe space, and its open and free flowing. It will make the whole room feel bigger as you can see right through to the window in the ensuite from the main bedroom. whereas, the second option looks like it may feel a bit "pokey" when walking through it. having to turn two corners to get into the ensuite. You definitely loose hanging space and I originally wanted heaps. I'm now trying to justify having a little less. However I have decided I don't want to walk through the WIR to get to the ensuite. I also don't want to be ****** in bed or looking down passage ways at bathrooms. I've seen in a lot of display homes open plan ensuite bedroom set ups. I don't like them. I've changed it again and it flows a little better. Gained a linen cupboard at the expense of more hanging space. I've been weighing up the pros and cons of having a wall in the shower or having it completely open. At the moment I'm leaning towards the open layout. Melly, I'm sold on the big rain shower head that you describe. We have a door from the hall into the ensuite as well - so we can close the ensuite completely off - no steam escaping down the hall. Some things are worth waiting for. So I take it that you are very happy with your layout and wouldn't change it if you could? How necessary do you think that door is? If you leave it open is it an issue? I was getting a bit door happy. One from bedroom to hall. One into the WIR. One for the toilet. Re: My ensuite design 9May 12, 2009 4:33 pm ElephantGuy Melly, I'm sold on the big rain shower head that you describe. Yeah they are awesome http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt40/MELLYBUILDING/Kohler-K-10121-CP-rw-44982-18404.jpg or if you cant get the builder to do it from the ceiling you can get them with arms. This is just a small pic of one of them. They actual square can be up to 30cmx30cm. Now thats a nice big showerhead. http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt40/MELLYBUILDING/infinite-square-minimal_rain_shower.jpg These look pretty cool http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt40/MELLYBUILDING/pornshower.jpg Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Would they have restrictions on them? they seem to pour down alot of water... With the size of your shower and those shower heads. I was getting a bit door happy. One from bedroom to hall. One into the WIR. One for the toilet. No - we designed our home ourselves so it is exactly what we wanted. We have a squareset opening into our WIR (sorry Dressing Room as Joles has dubbed it ) so the door into the ensuite would stop any steam escaping down the little hallway. We also have a separate toilet room in the ensuite - for some reason DH doesn't quite enjoy the munchkins coming in for a discussion when he is on the loo!! So a door was a must for the toilet. The shower is a bit smaller but still a good size. 1 basin on the vanity. A linen cupboard in the ensuite. There are two columns that face into the lounge. I've utilised the back of those. 1 will have drawers to about 1200mm and then open above for ornaments or flowers. The other will have a cupboard for storing those jumbo packs of toilet rolls. Above it will be open for ornaments or flowers. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: My ensuite design 13May 26, 2009 7:21 am ElephantGuy Well, I've changed the design a little bit. I was having chats with my father in law who is an architect about renovations im about to get underway and that was his suggestion. Maybe you could whack in a cav slider? I hadn't considered that before but agree it could be a problem. My last design does have that door between the passage way and the ensuite. Wouldn't that be sufficient in stopping most of the steam? Re: My ensuite design 18Jun 14, 2009 3:59 pm I love the last design! I think the storage cut out in the ensuite is a great idea for storing towels etc! My issue with the first few was that the first thing you could see when you walked in was the toilet, I prefer to have it hidden away. And I would probably put a sliding door in the ensuite entrance rather than a normal door Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Re: My ensuite design 20Jun 14, 2009 4:12 pm Bam And I would probably put a sliding door in the ensuite entrance rather than a normal door I raised that with the builder when I saw him last time. He suggested that common practice was to keep away from the sliding doors unless you really had no other option. Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6144 the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11838 |
