Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 03, 2009 10:40 am I chose this tap to go in my upstairs powder room to go with this basin, but think now it's too heavy and square looking, I can swap it for the one for the downstairs powder room Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ OR Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and this is the light in there, so everything is pretty and delicate ... apart from the tap Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ DOWNSTAIRS POWDER ROOM Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ to go with this basin Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ OR Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ will this one look ok with this basin should I swap them around Re: Which tap goes with which basin 2May 03, 2009 11:03 am Yep I'd swap them Su I straight away thought that the powderroom square tap did not go with the basin, and like you said I think that is a very pretty/feminine/delicate room, and that square tap is quite hard looking. The square tap is lovely though and should most certainly have a place in your home, I'm liking it with the other basin you put up, so yep I'd swap them! Btw did I mention I'm in love with your powderroom splashback? My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which tap goes with which basin 3May 03, 2009 11:40 am haywgl Yep I'd swap them Su I straight away thought that the powderroom square tap did not go with the basin, and like you said I think that is a very pretty/feminine/delicate room, and that square tap is quite hard looking. Btw did I mention I'm in love with your powderroom splashback? Not quite sure if you mentioned that thenkyouverymuch... me too I am so glad this crossed my mind at 2am this morning. I had unwrapped all the taps yesterday and it hit me, that it just wasn't right. I hope the square tap isn't too bulky for downstairs Re: Which tap goes with which basin 4May 03, 2009 12:01 pm Hi, I agree to an extent...(because this is all so subjective ) I would definately change the tap from the square one to the round one, because the lovely curves of the basin seem at odds with the square tap. However, I would ditch the square one altogether and install a second round tap in the other bathroom. It's not that I don't like the square (I do) -- it's just that for continuity I would keep the taps the same because it would matter for me. If it doesn't matter for you then just do a straight swap. Re: Which tap goes with which basin 5May 03, 2009 12:07 pm Funny you should say that Pixelated, I just mentioned to Su in a PM if she is able to swap the square one over for the same rounded one then I would do that too as I like things to be the same throughout the house!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which tap goes with which basin 6May 03, 2009 12:11 pm Ahhhhhhhhhhh Pix, you are reading my mind, after a D&M discussion with a good friend I am going to enquire about exchanging it tomorrow for one the same. Even though the photo looks round it's actually a cube shaped spout Re: Which tap goes with which basin 7May 03, 2009 12:16 pm Agree Su - swap and swap! Re: Which tap goes with which basin 8May 03, 2009 2:23 pm Been to check the tap situation, unfortunately this tap Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ won't work because the flick bit on the side will hit the basin and it needs to sit close to the basin as the spout doesn't extend very far, I am going to need an extended flickmixer with the control on the top, what do you think of this one Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ still too chunky???? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ not as chunky as this There aren't many with the top control. and another question while I have your individed attention, which way would you sit the basin, I have it with the longest side at the front (nearest me) Re: Which tap goes with which basin 9May 03, 2009 4:42 pm Hmmm tough one, I think I'd go with the longer skinnier mixer rather than the thinner square one because sticking to the original rule that in this case "less is more"... As for which was to put the basin I would put it with the longest/pointiest end going to the right....if that makes sense, so i think that would be the smallest side facing you....oh I don't know I'm confused by it all and it's not even my house My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which tap goes with which basin 10May 03, 2009 5:03 pm I'm just gonna put a few pics of other taps here, for your comments....and for me to keep looking at Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ this one would probably work Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think what you said is the way I have it and the tap goes on the left at the back Re: Which tap goes with which basin 11May 03, 2009 5:13 pm I like the last one with the curved spout. This won't make sense ..... but the other taps are quite masculine.... this tap is feminine and your light is feminine so I reckon it's the best!! Re: Which tap goes with which basin 13May 03, 2009 5:31 pm Yes, I know what you mean really I do, I wouldn't normally go for the gooseneck (well I did in the other powder room didn't I...apart from that one I wouldn't normally hysterical laugh) but the curve caught my eye and I thought it looked gentler and the lever is at the back so won't get in the way....thanks Re: Which tap goes with which basin 14May 03, 2009 5:51 pm donuts I agree, the gooseneck one is softer.
