Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 01, 2009 8:35 pm Is everyone getting metal shower drain caps these days? Or are some of you getting the plastic ones? Which do you prefer? I think that the metal ones look more modern and are probably more expensive ... but I like to use bleach and I think this might damage them (I damaged our bath drain cap by doing this - it went all rusty and gross). The white ones on the other hand can get dirty, but you can clean them with bleach and they come out looking brand spanking new So what do you guys think? Steel or plastic? Re: Shower Drain Caps 2May 02, 2009 8:52 am i like the idea of nice chrome jobs but think our house will have white plastic, and they probably will be a bit longer lasting Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. They both cost less than $10. Or you can get chrome plated brass floor wastes, which cost considerably more than $10. We have been told we have to use them because we have chosen 600mm tile. We are also being charged an additional $200 to install it. We originally wanted to go with the grate but were told that would cost thousands in engineering costs. Do you mean the grate that runs across the back of the shower? With our previous builder, we were going to be charged around $1,600 for two showers. Like this? Some people say they are a pain to keep clean, but who gives a hoot they look great Re: Shower Drain Caps 10Aug 20, 2009 7:59 am I renovated my bathroom and found this great website. Their shower drains / grates look great and worked fine. Much cheaper than buying from bathroom outlets. I paid $165 for a 900mm. Delivery was only $18. http://www.vincentbuda.com.au Re: Shower Drain Caps 11Aug 20, 2009 2:42 pm Southies We're installing these & you can get them from ebay : http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=smart+tile Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Sorry I'm going to ask a silly question, but does this smart tile go in during building process or can add afterwards. I'm a little confused sorry Re: Shower Drain Caps 12Aug 20, 2009 2:49 pm I believe the plumbing is the same for this installatoin as the regular drains. However, the tiler installs it, as he has to cut the surrounding tiles to fit around the smart tile & has to also cut a tile to fit IN the actual smart tile drain Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Shower Drain Caps 13Aug 20, 2009 2:57 pm Southies I believe the plumbing is the same for this installatoin as the regular drains. The central part "pops" out for cleaning and drain inspection purposes. We are having about 6 of these ... 2 showers, 2 bathroom areas, 1 in a powder room and 1 in a laundry (phew!). They were about an extra $50 each. But should give cleaner lines (I hope). We didn't appear to be charged extra for the tiling. Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4540 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4091 Grab a hose, insert it at the top of the inlet/down pipe and turn the water on and see where the water is escaping from. Then you'll know. 3 8467 |
