Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 30, 2009 6:45 pm Well, after the trauma of my basins (thank you for everyone's imput! - I am learning to love them with my colours!).... I am not happy with the laying of the feature tiles in the ensuite. My DP tells me i am being a bit OCD - but I just can't get past it. It just doesn't look quite right!! Before I raise it with the SS...I thought I would get a reality check. The third picture highlights the problem where the listello lines don't match the brown tile lines!? My overall shot didn't turn out properly so I don't have another picture, but when you stand back and look you can really notice they don't match up. I just don't know if this is normal or not Firstly this is a picture of all the colours together - everyone was right with my basins - once everything has gone in, it looks much better!!!!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A photo of the powder area - which I am happy with too Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is a close up of the feature tile in the ensuite - see the little lines on the feature tile don't match with the lines of the brown tiles - to me it doesn't look right Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the same feature in the bathroom - no where near as noticible I think? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have gone for the same everything in both ensuite and bathroom...for flow apparently (but really its because I short circuited chosing this colour combination let alone 2 colour combinations ) Thank you in advance and I am ready be told I have control issues LOL! Colors and selections look great It looks like from the bathroom pic that the feature tiles are the same length as the wall tiles, so I would definitely want it to line up. Would drive me nuts! Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 3Apr 30, 2009 6:58 pm Yep you definitely have control issues..... and that's exactly why you built. It'd drive me nuts as well to be honest. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. My thoughts exactly - you put the feature on the floor next to the brown tile and its the same length so why don't they match up on the wall! I think I am going to be brave and raise it with SS Thanks bel and joles Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! I'd want them to do it again if it was mine... things like that make me crazy after a while. but then again... i'd hate the idea of ripping it all out and starting again when it's starting to seem finished. Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 9Apr 30, 2009 7:41 pm It does look different to the other photo. Now you have noticed it the first thing you will look everytime you walk in is the tiles. If it annoys you now it will always annoy. BTW I love the tiles Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 10Apr 30, 2009 7:52 pm It would drive me crazy too, I would definityely get it changed. Our original tiler did silly things like this and we had our entire job ripped out and started again. Thank goodness the second tiler has finished today, we have been 5 weeks without a shower! The posts above mine all said the same thing, it must be right. Other colours and basins look great too!! I agree it can match up as shown by the other bathroom - so in your case I would fight this, it just looks like the tiler got lazy My karma ran over your dogma Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 13Apr 30, 2009 8:22 pm Ok that would drive me nuts too! My tiles in my bathroom are 250x300 with a vertical strip of 100x300 tiles laid. So in theory 3 feature tiles should fit to 1 normal tile, but due to allowing for the grout, they would just miss lining up, so I'm having the main tile done as a 250vX300h so that they aren't meant to line up - does that make sense? Otherwise it would drive me nuts! 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Good luck with your discussions with them, I hope they will be reasonable about it. I also love how you'e done a dark strip either side of the feature, it looks great. lisanne yours makes sense will look good "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. The first picture, you cant really see that it doesnt line up, but in the third picture you can really tell. It must look more noticable in RL. It would drive me nuts also, i would always look at it everything i go into that room. I would def speak to ss to see whether something can be done Good luck! But yeah, the misalignment is noticible and would annoy the heck out of me also....good luck with your discussions with the SS in getting it fixed to your satisfaction. Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 17May 01, 2009 12:02 pm I wonder what planet they were on when they did that....perhaps the same planet my tiler was on when he put the disgusting silicon join in Yep, it would drive me insane too kyiee. Great choice of feature tile though Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 18May 01, 2009 2:46 pm I wouldn't be happy with that, truly how hard can it be, says me who's not a tiler. I don't know why they think it's okay to do a job like that. Even if the tile was too long wouldn't they just cut it so that it all the lines match up. Definitely not OCD, just expecting what you should get, some quality workmanship. Just wanted to say what a big difference some tiles can make, your basin with the feature tiles above it is really starting to look right at home now. I am bias though because I do love a square basin, but glad that you are starting to feel better about it. Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 19May 01, 2009 8:52 pm eleventybillionandone. If they can do it in one shower, they can do it in the other I'd have to have it fixed. Great tile selections though! Re: Another tile drama! opinions please :-) 20May 01, 2009 10:09 pm wow! I am overwhelmed with everyones comments and I now get that eleventy billion thing Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for all your supportive comments and reassuring me that I am not OCD! I am ready to email the SS myself now - my first time, usually DP does it all! I will let everyone know the outcome....THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
