Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 15, 2009 9:22 pm Was out bathroom browsing today looking for a mirror around 1.2metres wide by around 800mm long and came across a mirrored medicine cabinet around these dimensions and 245mm deep with 2 soft close doors opening from the middle. Does anyone use these anymore or are they old hat? I can't remember seeing one in any recently built houses or renovations, yet they are good for storing the toothbrushes, toothpaste and keeping all that stuff off the vanity basin. Interested to hear others thoughts? Re: Bathroom Mirror medicine cabinets 2Apr 15, 2009 10:01 pm We are planning on having one in our ensuite. We had one in the main bathroom in the last hosue and jsut a mirror in the ensuite. I remember at least one person who had handover last year had one. Re: Bathroom Mirror medicine cabinets 3Apr 15, 2009 10:07 pm We deleted the standard mirrors supplied by our builder, got a pathetic credit & we'll be installing our own shaving cabinets. Had them in our previous house & they were wonderful for storing toothbruses, paste, & all the little things. Re: Bathroom Mirror medicine cabinets 5Apr 16, 2009 3:24 pm I feel a little out-voted here as everyone else likes them Just my opinion...... but to me, they are a little old hat . Granted... i may be thinking of the "old school" ones. But I prefer to have a tiled niche in the shower to store DH shaving stuff etc. or even in the wall above the bath. to make a feature out of it. Do you have any pics to sway my vote?? wouldnt you get grubby finger prints on it all the time opening it? Although I do like the idea of hiding all the stuff- but cant you just do that in the vanity draws?? Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! That is a huge amount of storage. I do like that I was thinking of the old ones, like at my grandmothers house. Sorry Lofoten, I should have had more faith in you I still think it may look a little old fashioned if it didnt stretch the entire length of the vanity though Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Ditto 3M Claw, expensive but best thing I've used to date. I put two of the 11kg ones in for a 12kg mirror on the wall, and its been great for 4 years now. 4 1840 You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
